  • you could get the most creative writers in the world together in a room and I don't think they would dream up something as devilish and likely to drive bad online discussion for as long as 'tourettes racism discourse'

If this was a pre recording, they did him dirty by keeping it in. British television is all about baiting and spicing things up for controversies and hot topics for the tabloids

Its unfortunate you keep viewing this discussion from a perspective of who should be pitied the most and tying that to the logical conclusion of the incident.

I’m afraid as long as you are tied to that dichotomy and refute to zoom out, we won’t reach any further.

    Have a nice day.

Millions of enslaved Africans were stripped of their humanity, identity, culture, history, language, and religion. While freedom is considered a divine gift, it was not granted to enslaved Africans in the United States but had to be fought for and earned. with blood and tears.

I refuse to ever minimize that to who should be pitied more. Get the f*** out of my face dawg

The Tourette’s guy who said it or some random?

Evoking slavery every post doesn’t change the point of what someone is saying to you . It’s fine you don’t want to listen but it’s getting redundant

It’s almost like that’s the entire crux and affliction of the disorder

You literally could just google it rather than write a dumbass obviously answerable question

    I really don’t give a f*** enough

Not that I don’t respect and acknowledge the challenges of tourettes, but that s*** doesn’t effect my day to day so going on a deep dive about the matter doesn’t really do anything for me. Maybe if I meet someone I’ll be more curious

Also if you google Tourette syndrome nothing about profanities or slurs is apparently mentioned unless you’re probably scrolling deep into these articles, which I don’t really have a reason to do—

but since we’re here, it appears as if only 10% of tourettes patients have coprolalia (the swearing and slurs), so I wouldn’t really boil that specific part down to the “entire crux and affliction of the disorder”

    This thread basically

I think we’ve reached the peak of bad discourse. It’ll never get worse than this. We have to reset. Start over completely.

  • read this book bro really has it like that

a big part of him attending is probably to help the stigma of tourrettes if he was to watch it away from everyone it doesnt help push the meaning of the film and is like saying all disabled people should be kept away from society

its unfortunate and not right but at the end of the day he cant help it hopefully this spreads the word about the condition more people watch the film and more people are more considerate to people with conditions. I hope this isn't used by racists and people realise the context and complexity of his condition. Thoughts are also with mbj n delroy and they understand it wasnt personal to them and him saying it doesnt reflect how he actually feels instead his brain just forces him to say the most worst/offensive/most horrible thing and he cant control it.

  • VIRGILSINTHAGROUND

Bro if your disability would lead to this South Park ass s*** you gotta have some agency and just not attend like how can anyone defend this

to spread awareness and hope more people are more considerate to people with this condition

So what do people want to happen from this ultimately

  • Everest

Also the hurt that would come with him having to be alone (or his whole team/cast could’ve watched with him from another room) would’ve been infinitely less than the feeling that comes with that s*** being said to two black men on stage in front of an entire room and now in front of the world.

Obviously the idea of him being alone and isolated is one that people don’t like but the movies whole crew and family/friends could’ve been there, and this whole s*** would’ve been avoided

its to spread awareness of tourrettes and make society more tolerant of it if hes not atteneding but the films up for awards this goes against the whole point of the film

Here's the thing (cause some new posters commenting dont get it)

    • Tourettes is a real thing and it can involve people saying very heinous and unsavory things that they cannot control. The guy was on bullshit the entire night (including calling a girl's speech "boring" and telling her to "shut the f*** up"). Some people are saying that people in attendance were warned this would happen (well, judging by Delroy and MBJ reaction, maybe not everyone was warned).

    • There has to be self-awareness by the BAFTA organizers, homeboy's team/family, homeboy himself to know that if you have a type of condition that can make you say the most heinous s*** in public during a nationally televised award event, that you don't have to not attend, but maybe just be in a private more accommodating room. We do this for regular sports events in cities where there's special seating areas for people with certain disabilities so I'm kinda wondering why this idea is or was seen as such a taboo for someone with a condition that would make the award experience 10000x miserable for everyone else in attendance.

In conclusion: F*** BAFTA organizers and his team, they should all get socked in the mouth.

he attending to spread awareness of tourettes
