Eh it depends. Biopics aren’t necessarily dependent on name and lesser known names have done well. For one, it wouldn’t require $200M, which means it doesn’t need to gross $500M+ to be a success.

I can see one honing in on a critical turning point, drama or controversy. Needs a unique story angle and top director and lead. Prince would roll in his grave if you tried a traditional formula. Like that would actually be disrespectful to do.

Only Prince can play Prince and he already starred in a major semi-biographical film during his prime, which makes this even harder.

I've found the songs from the film on youtube and they sound pretty legit quality to me.
