There’s a track list in the files which has it placed between them. Agree that it wouldn’t have fit, which is probably why they took it off the project entirely.
Is that the only difference?

From what I remember yes, all the other tracks were listed as they are on the album, same arrangement and titles as well.

@Vietbrah any insights?
I think my take on the beef (aside from any female involvement) is that metro gave drake trance but then took it away. I think he wanted to have a track like jimmy cooks to break up the album so it wasn't ALL dance stuff, and so metro taking it back struck a cord
then I think he may have done her loss w metros closest collaborator and stealing metros release date for his big comeback after like I wanna say 4 years of basically no production? prompted the collaboration album
future s*** was probably with a girl

It was because Metro's mom died and Drake was begging him to clear the song while he was grieving , check the dates , the album dropped not long after she died. It was in poor taste.

bro who would’ve thought what a s*** show this would cause
not even just the context of Metro & Drake disagreeing on who gets the song, but remember how after it leaked, Metro leaked the solo Knife Talk too?

Lol them jail calls say hello my boy

probably my most played unreleased Drake track… I get why Metro felt the original was better without the switch up for HIS album. But the Drake version does work really well for HNVM too lol.
Interesting situation.
So the timing seems to be:
Metro makes Trance (with Travis & Thug).
Drake records a verse over it, but Metro never wanted Drake on the song. Drake presumambly recorded the verse so he could take the song for Honestly, Nevermind.
Metro’s mother tragically passes away and on June 5, 2022 news of her death is reported.
Drake releases Honestly, Nevermind. Trance is not included.
So between June 3 - June 17 is when Drake likely would have asked Metro for the track, 2 week period.
Then:
Her Loss is announced via Jimmy Crooks music video for the next week and on the same day Taylor Swift *had set to release Midnights.
Her Loss (Drake & 21 Savage) is scheduled to drop here, but gets pushed back. Likely to avoid Taylor second week number being bigger then a Drake first week.
Her Loss is delayed one week, landing on Metro’s planned date for Heroes & Villains.
Metro then shifts Heroes & Villains to December (eventually Dec 2, 2022). Trance is on it, no Drake verse.
Metro starts subtweeting, liking disses, co-signing anti-Drake comments. He also starts backtracking and saying he cool with Drake, and even gaslighting about it untill finally beef goes public on We Don't Trust You released March 2024
My question then is would turning down giving a song really cause Drake to have a beef with Metro? or was it Metro started sneak dissing him for even asking for favor after his mother died. IDK 2 weeks is sort of crazy to ask for a favour from someone whose grieving there mother but Metro handled it pathetically

personal theories:
Jimmy Crooks replaced Trance last second?
More Ms included as compensation for stepping on Metro’s release date?
also, don’t forget Metro thought Drake leaked his version of Trance and retaliated by leaking Knife Talk solo

Correction: Midnights was not a surprise release, it was announced in August at the VMAs that year.
Also, how did Metro handle it pathetically if Drake was hitting him up asking for a song within two weeks of his mother’s murder? This timeline makes it looks even worse for Drake because two weeks is an absurd amount of time to start asking someone for work after their mother was tragically killed

Your right on Midnights, have corrected.
I agree that the timing is bad but then Metro went online start subbing, was caught out, then started pretending he wasnt, then eventually reveal he did have beef. How else to describe pretending your cool with someone you think didnt respect the death of your mother whilst subbing them online?
and from Thugger account Metro was already working whenever Drake did reach out. I can see feeling Drake isnt considerate but hard to justify how he reacted unless more to the story
