@ferraritears meditation is literally sitting down and focusing on your breath. 7 in, hold 5, 7 out, hold 5. If your train of thought starts to distract you gently return your attention back to your breath. No matter what sensations occur, gently return your attention back to your breath. Once you find solace or peace in the meditation, focus on that, and if you can't find that focus on your breath.
Thats all mediation is bro and thats the 100% honest truth, people will try to sell you on this or that but IMO guided meditation is useless because your training yourself to meditate to with your attention on something external while meditation is about self-control and internal focus. All your doing is strengthening the muscle that allows you to control your reaction to things bro. Thats what meditation is dont get caught up in the new age or religious bullshit people ascribee to it
you wont see the real benefits of meditation until you make it a habit and do it everyday for a while @ferraritears , but after a month or so youll notice a slight change in your mood and an decrease in irritability / overreaction to things that would normally bother you and at once you've done it for a number of years pain will literally start to feel less painful to you, whether it be physical or emotional.

New Years res to meditate every day in 2021, so many books I've read in the last couple of years have referenced meditation as the upper echelon of 'happiness' / peace

Few days after my nana passed, i just feel a deep melancholy when i meditate now
had a good session this morning. 2 weeks off from school and work so I can keep it going and make it a habit this time.
