we gonna try to stay up but it’s on a sunday and i go in the office on monday’s sooo
Hoping this embraces being a sleazefest. Need that De Palma and Verhoeven energy in full force.

Ahhhh damn
Ik its day 1 of filming we assume and obvs its a tight turn around but does the license plate being OCT insinuate that a halloween release is possible? It could also just mean the movie takes place in October but that'd be kinda annoying to include in the promo
Oct 2024 seems kinda far away
edit: oct 2023 also seems way too close if they did just start lol
iirc they finished filming X then stayed on the set and filmed Pearl like back to back so i wouldn't put anything past them

Exactly. X took itself way too seriously.

No it didn’t. It played things straight, but it was clearly still having a ton of fun with the concept. I mean one of the characters is literally just Matthew McConaughey’s character from Dazed & Confused. It’s a top 3 film from that year. A total blast. Pearl took itself much more seriously and that still was laced with plenty of levity.

Pearl was a completely different type of film. X was “not” Texas Chain Saw Massacre but Pearl was like a Lizzie Borden homage.
Any movie that stops for two minutes to unironically cover a pop song

Probably the best scene in the film. Now while I think that scene is trying to be emotional on some level (it worked on me) it’s also pretty tongue in cheek too. They all stop what they’re doing to cover a pop song together while De Palma style split screens are deployed to highlight the elderly couple. There’s certainly an aware silliness to it. But even if there wasn’t—god forbid a slasher film play its material straight for once. We haven’t had one do that really in like two decades.
