Dec 23, 2021Like I was saying before, I genuinely loved all the Neo/Trinity character stuff, some of the best romance stuff I've seen in a big budget movie in a really log time
I just wish everything surrounding it was stronger, while I like the emotional stakes, it didn't hit as hard as it could have for me because the general stakes felt so inconsequential; the human/machine conflict and why they're still fighting is barely addressed, Smith's role basically amounted to nothing, I still don't really understand why the machines kept Neo and Trinity alive and why they went to such great lengths to keep them locked up in the Matrix
The whole thing just feels so small scale and insignificant, almost like a cute little side story, which can be fine in general, but that's not what I want out of a new Matrix movie, when I think of Matrix I think of some grand and operatic s***

Why would I want Lana and Lilly ip to be given to another artist to make it cool ? When you thought they stole from Sophia Stewart you were mad. Why would you think it’s okay “ WB choose to give it to denis “ when again the first hour directly addresses just that NEO HAS AN EPISODE BECAUSE THEY SAY THEY WILL MAKE THE GAME WITH OR WITHOUT HIM

the only way I think this was a cash grab its because the final product wasn't executed with care or love

remember when Edgar Wright wrote and was gonna direct AntMan and everybody was super excited for it and then he was replaced by a generic marvel director who butchered it.
Or when Joss Whedon butchered the Justice League... this feels like that.
Like Lana and her co-writers wrote a great script and then the producers got a generic director who didnt understand the material or the tone to make it more "marketable".
