I feel like I’m talking to someone that trips daily ,and now talks in riddles, and thinks there deep.
It’s very plain what i’m saying
You Americans crack me up man
Nah fan service is doing what the crowd demands and in a way that they demand it
By definition yeah. But fans are fickle af
If I have 4 people rapidly hating at 6 am and I’m on my phone I can’t even see the actual people discussing the plot and that’s Meta itself
Eat yall fastfood, shlurp on that diet coke and enjoy your Marvel blockbusters homie
I don’t share that view but i respect that you think it’s not art
i didnt say that it wasn't art I said it wasn't high art there is a big difference there
just the fact that we are here having this discussion about it makes it art, even as a failed attempt its more fulfilling than a lot of fluff we see on the big screen these day
and thats something that you cant deny from the Wachowskis or in this case just lana, they always make you think and keep you talking
but as somebody that loves the art of filmmaking and writing I cant deny how unfocused everything else is
It’s very plain what i’m saying
You Americans crack me up man
You are taking the word “fan service” to litteral then.
A movie can try and do “callbacks” because they think it will plz the audience but then it falls flat
You already talked about the MCU doing this…well, so does this movie. It does something trying to make the audience happy but it’s actually cringe as f***.
“Fan service” is not always well received
If I have 4 people rapidly hating at 6 am and I’m on my phone I can’t even see the actual people discussing the plot and that’s Meta itself
Dawg stfu
So I blocked them not because their opinion not valid but I’m not here to convince anyone to not hate this movie I understand hating it . If you actually read my impressions there are parts of it I strongly disliked or felt something was missing , but many of you don’t read
The first half is F*** you to industry and what fans want . Second half is a F*** you to those who do things for anything but love
Bullshit, you are just saying nonsense to seem smart. Fan service can absolutely backfire. I already gave an example “force awakens” this is right in line with that.
force awakens is way better it's not even close, at least it had something going for it from a technical standpoint
Eat yall fastfood, shlurp on that diet coke and enjoy your Marvel blockbusters homie
This movie is an imitation of a lot of the MCU tropes lol enjoy
This movie is an imitation of a lot of the MCU tropes lol enjoy
the delusion to act like this is anything better than your generic marvel flick is something else
force awakens is way better it's not even close, at least it had something going for it from a technical standpoint
Bro I agree but I was trying to get this dude to understand “fanservice” isn’t like Guaranteed to be praised
He doesn’t seem to understand such a simple concept tho?
And to be clear the second half everyone has watched the trilogy and knows it was a reality . They are consumed with neo and trinity love but how many of them found love or a purpose besides neo ?
None
In og trilogy much of cast had a significant other in io none of them seem to
The second half is literally us
i didnt say that it wasn't art I said it wasn't high art there is a big difference there

There’s no such thing as “high” or “low” art
That’s literally opposite to what it intends to be, art is free of pretension or status. Whatever economic value we attribute to an artpiece is a reflection of everything surrounding the art. Not the artwork itself.
It stems from a fickle, exclusive and elitist mindset to speak in terms of “high” art
the thing is when you expose your art to the world it stops being yours
the matrix turned into something much bigger than her, and this is something she acknowledges in the movie
I understand her intentions, in many ways the matrix 4 is a deconstruction of what is the matrix and what it represents
for example idk if you seen NGE mild spoilers ahead, in the last two episodes they did something similar to this to the show, but it was because they had extreme monetary constraints and they still paid respect to the fans and everyone that loved the show in giving us a proper ending with The End Of Evangelion
this does the opposite, this deconstructs everything that is the matrix without giving us a proper conclusion
it tries to tell a joke but fails the punchline
I don't really think it's a deconstruction at all, just a continuation. The movies were always, at their heart, about love, about Neo and Trinity. Less about The One than about the power of Two, and the ways love changes us, makes us stronger, which I think, when taken in context of how NPH's character oversees The Matrix itself, keeping Neo and Trinity at an arms length, exploiting their love for each other to build a world sustained upon a desire that can never be actualised, makes its retooling of the first film and its structure really moving because it becomes not about Neo learning to believe in himself but about Neo learning to believe in the world and in life again through his love for Trinity.
This is what I think makes its meta elements not a mere wink and nod, or a malicious deconstruction or subversion of the source text, because by situating the original trilogy and the ways they impacted culture and individuals in the context of a world that takes everything you hold dear and twists it, reboots it, sells it back to you, ("It weaponizes every idea, every dream, everything that is important to us.") it becomes a film about fighting for the future by identifying what it is that you hold dear about your life, the art you love, the elements of your culture that have been swallowed up and spat back out by the system, and taking it back.
Niobe says “ Zion had become a matrix “ not realizing IO became one too
So I blocked them not because their opinion not valid but I’m not here to convince anyone to not hate this movie I understand hating it . If you actually read my impressions there are parts of it I strongly disliked or felt something was missing , but many of you don’t read
This dude really thinks anyone cares about his mindset for a block? Narcissist vibes lol

Once you view the matrix resurrections itself as a matrix or modal it makes sense. “ when trinity and neo get close things get crazy “
