the thing is when you expose your art to the world it stops being yours
the matrix turned into something much bigger than her, and this is something she acknowledges in the movie
I understand her intentions, in many ways the matrix 4 is a deconstruction of what is the matrix and what it represents
for example idk if you seen NGE mild spoilers ahead, in the last two episodes they did something similar to this to the show, but it was because they had extreme monetary constraints and they still paid respect to the fans and everyone that loved the show in giving us a proper ending with The End Of Evangelion
this does the opposite, this deconstructs everything that is the matrix without giving us a proper conclusion
it tries to tell a joke but fails the punchline
I wanna react more in depth but
1 i aint got enough time to give it the proper attention it needs and
2 i need to watch it before i actually share my thoughts.
But i do gotta say: no, no artist owes anyone anything, ever, no matter the condition, this ain’t an economic domain where you got to please crowds demands, that’s not what art is. If you want fanservice then you got franchises like Marvel specializing in that, call it art perhaps but to me it’s commercial engineering
People hate a lot of the aesthetic decisions about the movie, even me, because we hate what the internets been turned into. It's not the seedy edgy alternative life for the subculture anymore. It's always on, generic, brighter, glossier, aimed at teens, & that's what makes it so pernicious

Reread your first sentence and tell me that isn’t addressed in the movie as something lana clearly disagrees with in first 30 minutes
Whether you agree or not that’s the point of the first 30 minutes

This movie is fan service tho
Like legit the definition of it
It’s a joke

You say fan service yet majority of “fans” feel disserviced

I do agree it needs a harder punchline then the ending we get . Would have been crazy to see neo at end holding a controller and going to sleep in front of same computer as matrix 1
You say fan service yet majority of “fans” feel disserviced
Because it is a “disservice” it’s constant callbacks and nostalgia moments
This is the “force awakens” of the matrix
People hate a lot of the aesthetic decisions about the movie, even me, because we hate what the internets been turned into. It's not the seedy edgy alternative life for the subculture anymore. It's always on, generic, brighter, glossier, aimed at teens, & that's what makes it so pernicious
Part of why all natural sunlight and we keep seeing him look at birds
As well as pigeon
Because it is a “disservice” it’s constant callbacks and nostalgia moments
This is the “force awakens” of the matrix
Fanservice is something that makes the majority happy
Not rant about how crap it is

Fan service done well maybe

And that’s a major point of the movie even down to the after credits scene
Fan service done well maybe
There is no fan service without predictable positive reactions

The existence of this movie is fan service, it's funny how they actually don't get it.
It literally adds nothing to the original trilogy, but they act that because the movie is self aware it's suddenly ok and claim that the haters don't "don't get it" when it's the opposite.
The original trilogy was self aware too and it was done way more tastefully mind you.
And that’s a major point of the movie even down to the after credits scene
Tell me how i know more about this movie than people who’ve seen it
There is no fan service without predictable positive reactions
Bullshit, you are just saying nonsense to seem smart. Fan service can absolutely backfire. I already gave an example “force awakens” this is right in line with that.

Nah fan service is doing what the crowd demands and in a way that they demand it

but this is still the biggest problem with the movie, it doesn't commit to that fully
this movie doesn't know if it wants to be high art or a marvel movie and it tries to make an argument it can be both
and thats my problem with it, it doesn't know what it is and it addresses that but does that make it a pleasant experience? no. as I said the movie has brilliant concepts but the execution lacks in all fronts
the matrix went from being counter culture to being the culture and this tries to recreate that, but it ends up being none of that

I don’t share that view but i respect that you think it’s not art

……it’s like talking to a brick wall
You don’t think “fan service” moments can be cringe and trash? Here is another example “ghostbusters 2021”

I don’t watch movies. Haven’t seen that.
Fan service is handing out snacks when you know people love it.

The first half is F*** you to industry and what fans want . Second half is a F*** you to those who do things for anything but love

I feel like I’m talking to someone that trips daily ,and now talks in riddles, and thinks there deep.
Man says I’m ignoring him then I quote after being able to see his post and he don’t respond
