the matrix turned into something much bigger than her, and this is something she acknowledges in the movie

I understand her intentions, in many ways the matrix 4 is a deconstruction of what is the matrix and what it represents

for example idk if you seen NGE mild spoilers ahead, in the last two episodes they did something similar to this to the show, but it was because they had extreme monetary constraints and they still paid respect to the fans and everyone that loved the show in giving us a proper ending with The End Of Evangelion

this does the opposite, this deconstructs everything that is the matrix without giving us a proper conclusion

it tries to tell a joke but fails the punchline

I wanna react more in depth but

1 i aint got enough time to give it the proper attention it needs and

2 i need to watch it before i actually share my thoughts.

But i do gotta say: no, no artist owes anyone anything, ever, no matter the condition, this ain’t an economic domain where you got to please crowds demands, that’s not what art is. If you want fanservice then you got franchises like Marvel specializing in that, call it art perhaps but to me it’s commercial engineering

People hate a lot of the aesthetic decisions about the movie, even me, because we hate what the internets been turned into. It's not the seedy edgy alternative life for the subculture anymore. It's always on, generic, brighter, glossier, aimed at teens, & that's what makes it so pernicious

but this is still the biggest problem with the movie, it doesn't commit to that fully

this movie doesn't know if it wants to be high art or a marvel movie and it tries to make an argument it can be both

and thats my problem with it, it doesn't know what it is and it addresses that but does that make it a pleasant experience? no. as I said the movie has brilliant concepts but the execution lacks in all fronts

the matrix went from being counter culture to being the culture and this tries to recreate that, but it ends up being none of that
