him and francis met in high school, and he worked with the band since the start and played keyboards. he did their videos too ofc, including the friends bon iver/kanye west one. he then ended up doing all of benny blanco/cashmere cats and JIK era kanye videos through francis.

and he also did kendrick's we cry together video after dave/kendrick saw this one take scene from Kidding that he directed

Jake said in an interview that Bob was the heart of what he was trying to do with the movie, and that it was based on a friend. The friend was a creative who would work on stuff, have huge ideas for it, see things actually start to happen, and just when things look up they tear it all down and self destruct. Jake has been friends with francis and lights since high school (did their mv’s, was in the band)
