So yeah I’m tired of the quirky MCU casting as of late. I’m even more tired of the “smart” take from the subset of fans who counter this ire with statements like “the way a character looks doesn’t matter only the acting does”. Nigga this isn’t based on regular literature we have established ideas on what these characters look like, even across different artists that span decades. And film is a visual medium. Why the hell should good acting and looking the part be treated as exclusive too? Like yall can’t get folks who are good actors that also look the part? If that was the case, we shouldn’t have RDJ/Evans/Hemsworth/Boseman/Jackson/Cumberbatch and I could go on honestly. But this new s***? Yeah it’s putting me off and I can confidently say I don’t think I’m the only one

Also f*** First Steps. I’m not being nice about that s*** no more. F*** the cast, f*** the cinematography, f*** the set locations, f*** the lifeless dialogue, f*** the lack of charisma or chemistry, f*** that boring and limp plot. Yes they’re good at the versions of the characters that we see on the screen, yes they’re good actors in general. But that’s not the fantastic four, I will never get behind that cast. Again, here, I see the play with the quirky casting

Same with Johnsson as T’Challa Jr. and please don’t hit me with the “he’s his son” s***, he’s supposed to fill the void of the original Black Panther and he does not evoke that. It’s like sure acting is ofc paramount, but it gets to a line with me when it comes to adapting these characters I read and love idc, after that line I either don’t care about the acting skills or that’s all that matters. In this case idc about his acting skills I don’t want that nigga as a supplement for T’Challa

And I’m wondering where the newfound quirky casting is coming from. Are they trying to get back into the good graces of RT so by doing quirky casting for major properties with “good actors” they appear to have improved taste or prestige? But at least there’s Sadie Sink and Ryan Gosling, two casting choices that feel like the pre-bad reviews Marvel who casted tastefully as well as fitting for the characters

I dont need to say much about the quirky decision to cast Tony Stark from your same universe as debut Doctor Doom. He’ll kill it for sure but that’s yet another example of the quirky s*** albeit in a different way. With that being said, please cast the X-Men close to the vest like with Sadie Sink. The X-Men is my favorite faction of the Marvel universe, I don’t wanna see none of that quirky casting bullshit; we got enough of it with Fox. And I know niggas probably not gonna like this but I had to say it

In movies there is something called a Casting director. They choose the cast not just the director. At times the director plays a very small part in casting. What you are saying about Bryan singer isnt new information. To s*** on the cast because of a director and overlook the work of the casting directors is idiotic. Same as making a wide reaching statement like everyone cast in a weinstein produced movie is miscast or terrible.

If I was making a F4 trilogy I’d have each movie “focus” on a different character. (while others still get B and C plots.

First movie Ben, it makes sense as we’re getting to know them and he has the biggest change

Sequel Reed and Sue, chemistry grows maybe this is when they get married or have their first born

Third Johnny, makes the leap from comedy relief to proving himself as a leader

2nd movie council of reeds / the maker
reed sees the worse case scenario for him in the maker so he decides to settle down with sue she gets pregnant

3rd movie basically what first steps is since it was very sue focused

Doom would be sprinkled in to the trilogy with the reed and doom rivalry finally being the focus of doomsday and secret wars

4th movie annihilation adaptation with Johnny dying to stop annihilus

5th movie future foundation with future Franklin showing up in the present I don't even know about this one I just like when future trunks type characters show up

Brian Singer was hands on in casting those films. Feel free to Wikipedia that. Ian McKellen had just worked with him on Apt Pupil. Another movie about teenage boys with a naked locker room scene in it.

Filming two movies back to back would have helped them on fantastic four. Drop the first one last year and second part this year and use those movies alone to build up to Doom some. But scheduling likely so tight and Spider man. Just feels like before Doom should have gotten fanatastic four more and not wasted galactus
