He'd be a good fit but it seems like scheduling conflicts are why he's not Cyclops, so I dont think so

Because you know when an act of terrorist happens in New York humans logically only blame the person who did it and dont try to make it a group punishment.

That is clearly part of what they are going for. What Jean did will be considered an act of terrorism and fear she could or her kind could control any humans. Some will view Metzger as evil others will see him as necessary

Yes, what I’m saying this is what makes the allegory work because the hate is illogical

Mutants are born with the X-Gene that fundamentally separates them from humans and spurs fear over human evolution or human enslavement. Power sets are far more extreme than scientifically mutated beings like SM and F4, who often decide to build costumes, act for good and work for governments.

No one wants to give birth to a powered freak that accidentally kills people, crawls into your mind or shoots uncontrollable laser beams out their eyes and makes life inconvenient. The most powerful Marvel beings with comparable powers are gods or outright villains.

Just imagine if this actually happened. There’d global interest in hunting them down, experimenting on them and halting threats. And if it was your family member? Forget about it

    Y’all missing my point completely

I’m not questioning why humans fear mutants

I’m saying that the only difference between mutants and superheroes is that mutants are born with their gifts, so the allegory works because the reason that they’re targeted and hunted, whereas heroes aren’t, is solely because they were born that way

I never said that humans don’t have reasons to fear mutants, but that fear should also extend to them hating any person with superpowers, and yet it doesn’t

I mean the hate here is much more logical . All of any race isn’t born with powers

Being born that way means they never experienced being a human. How most of these heroes get their powers is tragic , unplanned or against their will

  • Aug 10

If God or fate gave select humans powers that’s different than a genetic experiment . Heroes early seasons was like a good iteration of x men they should review that

There’s plenty of heroes that got their powers at an extremely young age

It’s not logical at all when superheroes exist simultaneously and are adored

Either all powered beings should be feared or none of them should be

Researching why they naturally evolve into their given powers would be logical

Not the best source but worth a look based on the buzz over the past hour

The only person of color in the cast just dropped out lol

  • Why the f*** would you drop out of this project?

Did they really? She's manipulative and vengeful with low sense of boundaries when she's young with a healthy family in the comics so make her an orphan with a kidnapped sister in the films and it fits that she'd be crazier

Edit- She still the GOAT though and anyone who wronged her film or comics deserved it

They went way too extreme. Getting that old guy hit by a car, just a complete disregard for innocents. Then that manipulative s*** using MJ to kiss Peter then throwing her off the roof. I know she had to be a "villain" for the movie but they pushed it too far. All her anger should've been directed at Damage Control solely. She's never been like this in the comics pre-Phoenix

I still disagree with that though. Why hate someone who only revealed themselves to you via wearing friendly outfits, saving you from burning buildings, protecting you against other powered beings, or are public figures you knew (F4, Stark, Cap, etc..)? Then there's the ones that conceal their identifies, which protects personal life.

Peter Parker can quit being Spider-Man any time its completely voluntary like nearly every street-level hero. Mutants cannot control their powers its biologically tied to them. If Storm feels sad the weather will change. Cyclops will kill you if he opens his eyes. Magneto could subconsciously bend metal to kill you if he feels anger. Jean can read your thoughts. Rogue can't experience touch without ramifications.

Maybe if you're lucky you get to learn how to control your gift for good with Xavier. Issue is peak mutant population is 17 million to basically everyone has to learn the hard way or accidentally hurt people. Then there's the faction of mutants with more extreme ideologies which make the good ones look bad

All of this applies to heroes as well, y’all are just focused on the fact that mutants are born with these things

  • Melton facial structure would of made him great for beast.

Damn this would of been his biggest gig, wonder why he rejected it. Maybe scheduling issue

  • Its all amplified by their power sets too. Notice only mutants have a high concentration of telepaths for instance.

Why doesn't the average marvel hero get this? Its the one thing everyone naturally fears because it triggers concern someone will violate or assault you. And that's exactly what Jean did out the gate
