Mark Moschinoi got into spider-man during the j michael strazcynski run, which was a period in marvel where they were really focused on legacy and making the characters feel older and at a new stage in their lives. Peter around this time was being characterized like he was in his mid 30's and was a teacher; he and mary jane had been separated and were trying to make their marriage work again etc. and it was a really interesting take on the character to me. however when they switched him over to brand new day and ultimately the dan slott run i just felt like it was a weird regression for the character to go through as they dumped a lot of his character development to make him "feel younger" initially i thought i could just kind of weather the storm but with 700 it was just painfully clear that they were going to focus on what i liked spider-man for, for the foreseeable future so i jumped ship and havent kept up since then

yeah its a pretty infamous moment in comics, look up spider-man One More Day. a lot of people (myself included) feel that it fundamentally changed and kind of maligned him as at the time mary jane and peter had been married for longer in the comics than they hadn't so when they literally made spider-man make a deal with satan to get rid of his marriage people were like...... wtf?????
not only that but he had been on the avengers for a minute and now all of a sudden none of the avengers remembered who his real identity and all of their relationships with each other were pretty much put back to square one
just a really weird choice on marvel's part that no one likes or understands why it happened

im genuinely hoping that tom holland is gonna be in like 9 spider-man movies for the mcu and we watch as he grows into becoming the main character of the mcu in a iron-man type roll
