Yeah I know he’s not a young gun but Pedro looks a good 10 years older than that at least (not sure what his real age is, he just looks washed) and just doesn’t even look the part beyond that

he's 48
6 years older than when RDJ did iron man but i doubt the current mcu goes longer than 10 years. they'll prob reset it in 2027 with secret wars

Yeah I never bought RDJ crusty ass as a superhero either but I understand they didn’t have as many options at that time. I don’t think super hero movies need to open up casting to people who well are past their physical prime. Wrinkly heroes just not it to me, they should look decent but it’s more about names than looks now

So what is Iron Man? A guy in a multi billion dollar mech suit. Do you really need to be built for that? S*** RDJ could be Iron Man til he's 75 if he really wanted to

Reed Richards first and foremost is a scientist and explorer. The character has never been one known for their combat ability. His power is stretching which is something that requires CGI.

Both Tony Stark and Reed Richards are not meant to be big men with huge physiques or even really youthful. They are meant to be some of the most brilliant people with charisma in the Marvel Universe. To get that you need actors that can deliver that kind of performance.

Talent > looks any day of the week

I do understand that they’re not the most youthful heroes. And I think your point is especially valid for iron man which is why I mostly give that a pass

But this ain’t it. I feel like the “performance” they’re looking for is just one that appeals to the lowest common denominator and fits into their stupid comedic tone and not the best one for the character. I mean, all we have is a drawing and it’s already evident how idiotic and out of place Pascal looks in the role. And there’s surely more talent out there than just the most obvious current names. The name is doing just as much lifting as the talent here if not more.

It’s set in the 60s, they’re gonna be leaning into the goofy, as they should.

You gotta remember tho they aren't just cast for this movie, Pedro is Reed going forward. So while this first movie could be some sort of throwback comedic romp, once they introduce Doom and establish THAT relationship things are going to hit another gear. The importance of Reed Richards can't be understated. They might go as far as making Pedro play The Maker in Secret Wars which would have to be a total 180 from whatever upbeat tone this movie may have

Looking at Pedro's performance as Joel in The Last of Us he has more than enough ability to not just be part of a super jokey Marvel film. If they need Reed to go dark Pedro can deliver
