That Academy Award winning actor approached one of the biggest studios for a role, got the role, has been played around with for 5+ years, only for the studio to double down on nostalgia bullshit & use the character in slop with the actor that everyone prefers in the role anyway

Do we not see how crazy that is?

We’re less than two years away from Doomsday and Marvel has its work cut out.

Doom is well known but not as well known as Spidey, Superman, Batman etc where they can get away with casting an unproven actor. Especially with the state the MCU is in rn.

Don't forget y'all the casual viewers lasting image of Doom is probably through those two trash ass interpretations. They probably don't know how cold Doom is in the comics.

Not saying I agree with this choice completely just trying to rationalize the thought process

You’re saying this like the only options were RDJ or an unproven nobody.

There are plenty of established high caliber actors who would’ve been great in the role, Cillian Murphy being at the top of that list

thunderbolts gonna be so boring man

  • Jul 28, 2024

I don’t think he’s playing Tony I think he’s fully and earnestly playing Victor but he’s playing RDJ too if you get me. In Secret Wars we’ll learn that he was essentially playing RDJ as Tony Stark. This same guy was probably RDJ as Steve Jobs in another universe

  • Jul 28, 2024

Are we still even getting Strange 3? I was ready for that

  • Jul 28, 2024

It’s like you’re just trying to tell Mahershala that he’s gonna fail at the role anyway & to let it go atp

Think he's moreso saying why the Downey decision makes sense rather than saying it HAD to be him.

Bro even going by that logic he's still appearing in an Avengers movie where the brand name is strong alone cuz there hasn't been a publicly trashed Avengers movie ever. All of them have been received well and made mad money.

Y'all think the general public gives a f*** when they just want to be entertained??

Tbh I’m surprised he’s still attached

Would love to see him as Blade but they been doing my boy dirty

  • Jul 28, 2024

Regardless of what Chris Evans says, I’d be surprised if he doesn’t come back for Secret Wars just so everyone can see him and RDJ on opposites but with RDJ as Tony Von Doom

Also people are out here saying Feige's doing the to try and "revive" the MCU as if Deadpool & Wolverine isn't about to make over $200M in its domestic opening weekend.

Quality is one thing but box office wise the only real miss they've had is The Marvels

I mean your average person knows of Doom but don't know his background. Most people just know his image as the dude in a mask but that's about it since he's only had one s***ty portrayal on screen. He isn't like the Joker that you can just pop in a film, you gotta explain who he is. But there's no time to build him up and have people care for him like a Thanos level threat. Making him a Tony Stark variant gives him some background and gives the audience a reason to care off rip and builds hype that the MCU needs right now

They completely f***ed all of this. Could built doom properly over years on front street in the open. Him being Tony stark variant is weird cuz you use up consumer mindshare by watering down his story right now. Post reboot, when they tell the true victor story will audience feel fatigued?
