It’s pretty evident INEOS is setting the budgets, just look at our spending per summer since they’ve come in (at least compared to competitors).

That being said our quality per pound spend is probably better under INEOS, but that just won’t do

Imagine wanting back the manager that conceded 7 by Liverpool and 6 by City. The manager who spent over 350 million pounds to bring in Antony, Hojlund, Mount, Ugarte, Onana, Zirkzee and Mazraoui.

Being realistic for a sec, the influence on a manager is kind of overrated in most cases (apart from extremes like SAF/Pep/Amorim). If we are being real since SAF there were only two times we actually had a squad good enough to compete for the title (as in a top 3 squad in the league), that was in the last Ole season and in Mourinho's second season.

People will say we spent a lot of money in the other seasons as well, but most of those players turned out to be s***, not only at us but also the clubs they played afterwards (where they play, how they play, if they play). By far the most important thing a club needs to compete is good recruitment, we just havent had that since Gill left. Which is why we havent won anything. Could have put almost any manager in front of our teams over the last 13 years, apart from those 2 seasons we wouldn't have had a chance no matter what.

Idk man, that's why I don't see what the point in sacking Carrick is. Like as long as INEOS is not willing to improve the squad substantially we are not going to compete.

Everybody and their mother knows that Zirkzee is ass, that our defence is mid etc. but INEOS were unwilling to do anything about it. But now that we lose a few games because we don't have any extra attacking power to bring on or because our defence is mid everybody suddenly turns on the manager. When this was definitely a squad issue.

Like it is safe to assume that Carrick isn't the new SAF, but he is not Amorim level s***. He's kinda run of the mill. But so was Slot (lowkey same for Arteta), and he won a league title. Like the fitness stuff can be easily fixed by getting in a better fitness coach.

Another example: us not being able to score against low blocks, has mostly to do with not having the right squad for it. Like this problem started when we got rid of McTominay (who was a terrible midfielder, but always a threat in the box when we were pumping in crosses end of the game). Get in another tall striker, and a midfielder like McTominay and I'm sure the likes of Everton, City, Hull can't survive being under pressure from constant crosses for 45 minutes. The only thing a manager then has to do is get them on the pitch in time.

TLDR: Succes is for 90% down to recruitment and squad building, which we have been s*** at.

Carrick's numbers + manner in which the games have gone is why people are so concerned so quickly, which is past squad building, though

Fair, but we’ve seen that with this exact group of players before he came in too. Where they looked like they didn’t even show up for certain games & u can tell from the off

I think it’s a mentality thing. & when he came in they were able to battle through that when it happened & still get results last year.

This season has been a mess so far but I’m backing him to figure it out. But again like we all know, the squad balance is really messed up so not an easy task

Don't think the performances were poor at all. A lot of games we were completely in control, only to concede the dumbest goals, so games were always relatively close. Only s***ty games we played were the ones against teams like West Ham, Everton, Newcastle, etc. which I mentioned earlier is mainly down to squad issues imo.
