DrogonINEOS have already made themselves look stupid by sacking a man 4 months after giving him a +1 year extension, if they were to then hire a free agent who was available in the summer and would've had an entire pre-season and transfer window, and someone who in their own words will have been deemed 'not better than Ten Hag' - it's making their decision even more stupid.

Definitely the least realistic out of three but I wouldn’t say it’s a pipe dream appointment. He’s already coached Germany at the EUROs and the United job is a top 3 job itw from a scale perspective

Oct 28, 2024ANTIThinking about things internally doesn't mean much in the overall process of firing and then hiring a new manager. German sources are saying they want to make a run at Nagelsmann but no approach has been made yet. I would take that to mean that no formal approaches of any kind have been made with anybody. And despite what you say, it would seem that the sacking was more of a final straw impulse decision than a carefully crafted and timed firing.

We have 4 games in the next 13 days, I don't think it would be ideal or smart to throw a new manager in with such little time to prepare between games and implement what he wants. As much as I don't like Ruud, there's familiarity there. (This is why Ten Hag should've been gone after the Villa game, but I digress)
Also... I don't want this to be a rushed process, and given how this club has operated, there's nothing that tells me it's going to be, if anything it might take too f***ing long.
If we look at Villa for example, firing Gerrard and then hiring Emery was an overall process that took 11 days, I don't think this will be dissimilar.
What the hell do German sources have to do with United. Nagelsmann renewed after Euros for the World Cup, he's not happening.
And who is Sam C reports and why should I care about him. Collectively we gotta stop plucking these random twitter dweebs out the sky and then acting like they're gospel. If it aint Stone or Ornstein or a small handful of others it's generally junk.
Any new manager will have little time to prepare and will have to play football games. An international break aint going to help if all the key players are away with their international teams anyway.

No, but a club statement shouldn't be treated like the be all, end all. They weren't going to say 'we're hesitant making this decision but we reckon Ten Hag can come good'. They backed him, it didn't work out, they pivoted. I don't think they should have to justify themselves even if we do hire someone who was clearly available in the summer.
