If Rashford and Shaw are still here by next September, this club is unsavable.

Reckon he'll only have the one cup game

He’s most likely gonna get this entire stretch from now until November 10th. Then we have another two week break and hopefully, that’s when the new manager is brought in.

Yeah white Dutch people have a history of that.

Don’t look up “zwarte piet” (aka black pete) you’ll be horrified

Fortunately through years of protests things have come around significantly

Ngl pick any white Dutch person over the age of 30 and there is a 50% chance they dressed up as black face once

INEOS have already made themselves look stupid by sacking a man 4 months after giving him a +1 year extension, if they were to then hire a free agent who was available in the summer and would've had an entire pre-season and transfer window, and someone who in their own words will have been deemed 'not better than Ten Hag' - it's making their decision even more stupid.

I'm a Liverpool fan, but Jim Ratcliffe is up there with the Green River Killer in terms of being an absolute imbecile and an unadulterated intellectually bankrupt plum.

Why? They haven't just suddenly come to the conclusion the manager needs to be sacked. They would have been thinking about this for a while and sounding things out in the background. We've seen clubs make very quick managerial turnovers.

Given this isn't a decision made by 1 person and certainly not one with just a 25% stake in the club, I don't see your logic.

Who would you bring in as manager for long term success?

only (somewhat available) name that comes up to mind rn is amorim

however, while i believe he’s a great coach and was my no.1 pick for liverpool, i can’t really see how he would line up with the current united side, definitely doesn’t seem like a job for him

maybe he could play in a different system but so far he’s been very specific about his choices so idk if he would be up for it, don’t feel like united got many specific players to compliment his playstyle + it’d be super risky for him to make his first big move and the jump to united right now, while the club’s a mess…. still feels like coaching united has to be an opportunity that doesn’t come everyday for a coach so wouldn’t be easy to reject - chances were bigger in summer tho, i don’t feel like too many coaches that are doing well as he is like to leave mid-season with an unfinished job

michel from girona would be a better shout for the players united got imo but i won’t lie i dont know too much about him + they’re not that good this season, which is understandable given their departures

surely the most braindead transfer out of them all, dont know what they was thinking

casemiro for that amount was questionable too given how often brazilians fall off once they reach their thirties but at least he carried the team in his first season so it isn’t tragic + he was still coming in as a world class player that wasn’t really expected to move at that time

antony for 80+ is no comment but at least he was showing promise unlike mount…. should’ve never went this far with the sum though, he was good but it’s not like he’s ever had any numbers even in the eredivisie - united fumbled gakpo for half the price back then even if antony was the “wiser” choice because he’s left footed

Why? They haven't just suddenly come to the conclusion the manager needs to be sacked. They would have been thinking about this for a while and sounding things out in the background. We've seen clubs make very quick managerial turnovers.

Thinking about things internally doesn't mean much in the overall process of firing and then hiring a new manager. German sources are saying they want to make a run at Nagelsmann but no approach has been made yet. I would take that to mean that no formal approaches of any kind have been made with anybody. And despite what you say, it would seem that the sacking was more of a final straw impulse decision than a carefully crafted and timed firing.

They wanted to have somebody lined up, they ultimately don't.

We have 4 games in the next 13 days, I don't think it would be ideal or smart to throw a new manager in with such little time to prepare between games and implement what he wants. As much as I don't like Ruud, there's familiarity there. (This is why Ten Hag should've been gone after the Villa game, but I digress)

Also... I don't want this to be a rushed process, and given how this club has operated, there's nothing that tells me it's going to be, if anything it might take too f***ing long.

If we look at Villa for example, firing Gerrard and then hiring Emery was an overall process that took 11 days, I don't think this will be dissimilar.

he’s definitely ready to move should the right opportunity come - reached pretty much everything with sporting already and they’re probably winning the league again easily this season, was ready to move this summer already

whether he wants to move from highly possibly another title-winning season to the current mess is a question for him and would be a huge challenge - which may well be what he seeks right now at this point though so it’s surely possible
