None of the top moments on T&Y are close to even sniffing the top moments on F&L 1. That’s really what it comes down to. This isn’t even including the absurdly good singles, features, and critical acclaim it got as a whole. You even have randoms like Meek Mill saying publicly how much that album meant to him, etc. Nobody cares about t&y past Lupe fans.

T&Y is literally not better than F&L in any critical aspect other than recency bias and having a better mix lol what are you personally basing this on.

T&Y is pretentious and F&L is much more smoothly done. Lupe was the “best rapper in the world” on F&L in way more ways than he was on T&Y. And it wasn’t having to be forced with 8 or 9 minute songs and pointless interludes in an attempt to be faux artistic.

notice how you're the only one in this thread that disagrees, so my comment still stands.. what you're writing is your opinion, which is fine, but most of his fans (and lupe himself) disagrees. so stop dismissing other people in here that like T&Y better (which, again, is most of his fans)

also, songs like mural and adoration of magi got plenty of recognition from other artists as well.

also, also, i still f***ing love food and liquor. one of my favorite albums ever. but T&Y is more refined in almost every way (production, lyrically, mixing, etc etc)

Lupe is more evolved musically on T&Y than F&L, he expanded the types of song structures he uses and the production is much better

the only way that the first two albums could be seen as being way better than T&Y is just based on nostalgia alone, which i can understand. but idk, it’s such a strong well- formed project that i can’t see how it couldn’t at least hold its own against F&L / the Cool

Rappers have praised TY tho. Isaiah Rashad recently said he prefers T&Y. And Mural is a staple for rappers. F&L is classic but you diminishing TY
