I think the mix is intentional to give you something more raw. His setup was the same or worse for the House EP, since he was recording his vocals while lying on the couch. At least we saw him actually standing up for Seattle lol. So, if Abel (sounds like he was supposed to mix this instead at one point) could miraculously clean up that s***, I don't see why Craig couldn't too unless that's the point.

Just a guess, he implies it at 4:00 and 5:40. I'm taking "my engineer" to mean the person who mixed his last 3 projects over someone Lupe hasn't worked with since 2007. After the House EP, Abel probably advised him to get this pop filter or isolation shield? to make his trash vocals more bearable to work with. I don’t see why Lupe would mention him like that (4:00) if he didn’t initially intend on Abel doing the mix again. It’s worth noting this was recorded near the end of the first day and obviously, there was a change of plans somewhere down the line. Maybe the rest turned out better than he ever imagined for such a short time frame. It seems like this was just supposed to be a fun experiment for him in the beginning, not a real album he was actually proud of. I also noticed he didn’t tweet about Ms. Mural until later and that could have been a deciding factor too if it was one of the last songs recorded.
