The South Bay Lakers announced they have named Perry Huang, Barbara Turner and Mo Charlo as assistant coaches, joining Alex Cerda and head video coordinator Joshua Townsend on head coach Zach Guthrie’s staff.

This’ll be Charlo’s first coaching job.

Perry Huang is from the Seattle Storm. Turner from the Atlanta Dream.

Turner helped in Houston in Sengun’s first year and did a lot of translating Turkish.

JJ Redick said of Day 2: “The overall competitive spirit in this room was fantastic.”

He mentioned that they emphasized physicality on defense as a key point, and he thought the players delivered.

JJ Redick when asked on his early impressions of rookie Dalton Knecht: “He’s got a heater. That’s what he’s shown me, first of all”

JJ Redick said Cam Reddish still was not able to participate in the live portion of practice today.

There also isn’t any update on Christian Koloko yet as far as getting cleared.

JJ Redick said the Lakers have been tracking all the data in these practices and Bronny led the way today, running 6 miles during the practice. JHS was right behind him at 5.5.

JJ Redick said Dalton didn’t shoot it well during practice today but was really impressed with his overall competitiveness.

AD on being in game shape this summer with Team USA, and carrying that into training camp: “I feel great - my body feels great … that helped me out a lot.”

AD said Bronny hit a 3 over LeBron today, much to the delight of their teammates, and LeBron went down and bullied somebody else on the next possession.

“I’m just honored to be here witnessing it … to me it just means the world to LeBron. It’s a different level of joy.”

Asked about numbers, stats, a***ytics, tracking data, etc., AD takes more of an old school approach: “What matters to me is we have more points than the other team at the end of the game.”

Cam Reddish remained a limited participant with ankle soreness, but his injury has improved since Tuesday.

With preseason games coming on Friday and Sunday in Palm Springs, JJ Redick said LeBron and AD are “going to play this weekend”, but Redick and staff are still deciding how to optimize their playing time to build up to the regular season.

JJ Redick, asked if anything stands out about Anthony Davis having been up close and personal in practice for a few days, said AD himself stands out.

In sum: “Everything he does on the basketball court is at an elite level.”

Gabe Vincent noted that he’s comfortable playing alongside either Reaves or Russell in the backcourt bench rotation, which is still undetermined. He likes that all three can handle the ball or play off ball offensively.

D’Angelo Russell said he’s been relating a lot with JJ Redick “getting into his bag” from a coaching standpoint with attention to detail from a play calling standpoint, whether in live action or ATO’s. Russell said he’s very much looking forward to playing for him.

Rui Hachimura on JJ Redick: “He was just in the league … he knows exactly what’s happening in the league right now. For us, it’s easy to understand … whatever he says just makes sense.”

Rui Hachimura, asked if any of the young guys have stood out as improving from the end of last season, mentioned Jalen Hood-Schifino. Said he’s clearly gotten stronger, and is playing with confidence. Made clear gains.

Rui Hachinura says he’s never practiced this intensely before. Gave a shoutout to Scott Brooks his first NBA coach but said they didn't really practice.
