On top of the “usual suspects” (essentially the starters), JJ Redick cited Max Christie and Jaxson Hayes as having impressive moments in the first practice. Both expect to be key bench rotation pieces.

Redick said he envisions a 9-man rotation for the regular season.

Cam Reddish, Jarred Vanderbilt and Christian Wood were the main roster players who didn't participate in the Lakers' first practice.

Reddick mentioned Gabe Vincent, Jarred Vanderbilt (when healthy), Jaxson Hayes, Max Christie, Cam Reddish and JHS as players vying for bench rotation spots. He also noted he was likely forgetting a player.

LeBron James is not yet sure which preseason games he will play in.

JJ Redick, LeBron James and Max Christie shared that the Lakers all met last night in Beverly Hills to lay out their identity on both sides of the ball and the ground rules for the season. Redick said he didn’t want to waste the group’s time doing so in their first practice.

LeBron specifically cited how poor the Lakers transition defense was last year as a point of emphasis for this season. Felt they were pretty good in half court, but really need improvement in transition.
