trying not to listen to MOTY until the album drops but damn the response is not building any excitement lol
This is a great track and can compete with melodrama. How are y'all so negative with it?
no offense to anyone on an individual level as this isn't meant to be a blanket statement outside of the vacuum of lorde, but reading into the context (interviews, etc) of her talking about gender, all i can think is that it is really sad and honestly seems more like the result of incredible built-up resentments and issues copying with womanhood. the entire way she's aligning the rollout of the album to a personal identity rollout i think is really poor taste additionally

When you say compete with melodrama
Is that like homemade dynamite or supercut lol

Lmao okay you got me there.
What’s she in Aus for?
She was in Australia to crash a Lorde Night at a Sydney club
Then she went to NZ to spend time with her parents, did a listening party in Auckland, and then was at the award show

Nice 😊
I like the singles but not in love with them
I’m pretty open minded about this album, im hoping to like it but not putting too much pressure on it

Completely agree with this but I'm still excited for the album and fine to separate all that from the actual songs

Yeah I actually like the song otherwise

it seems poor taste to me too, but i can't articulate why

It’s just that…what does Man of the Year means in the song? The lyrics are very vague. I’m worried that she mentioned writing bluntly, and yet the wording is just generic. It doesn’t tell a story about her journey at all. It’s not even cryptic.
haven’t gotten laid in months

It's clumsy but I'm more invested in this era than I was in Solar Power's "there's a pandemic going on, let's sing about weed and how hard it is being famous" angle
