Why a dude who been accused on biting Kendrick whole career went and got the same sample as The Heart Pt. 2 is beyond me

My overall perspective on Logic is, he does have great ear for beats, able to flow over them well, and is a positive figure for hip-hop in general. What bothers me about his music though is the constant filler bars (Which I felt were also evident on this album) and some lack of originality. I know 99% of hip-hop artists borrow elements of other rappers they were influenced by, but with Logic its kinda blatant. At least he tends to acknowledge it and seems to give a homage I'm assuming?

Those were the reasons that prevent me from fully becoming a fan of his music, oh along with dropping several mediocre albums too. Glad he still ended his hip-hop career with a solid body of work, still don't think he'll retire 100% from rap

Always wondered why I struggle to take him serious, but this really sums it up. Great beats, filler bars. You can tell he's a fan of hip hop though, just doesn't feel like his own artist.

Amazing album basically the ''Graduation'' of this current gen

huh? i listened to this and enjoyed it but i don't see the comparison at all. this album is all raps, whereas Graduation might be where Kanye made his best SONGS. Stronger, Power, Good Life, Can't Tell Me Nothing, Flashing Lights, etc. All wonderfully produced, rap heavy and enormous hooks. This Logic album has the production and bars, but lacks on songwriting IMO

Imo like someone else pointed out this album would've been slightly more enjoyable if they incorporated more hooks. Since it's mostly Logic just rapping, reminds me of Wayne's approach with Funeral

I don't think this freestyle approach works for Logic, his bars don't really hold that much weight for that

Agreed, works much better for someone like Wayne

yeah all the praise he's getting is dope but for me i couldn't like it as much. the content isn't varied enough to carry thru 15 tracks like a Kendrick album for example. this seemed like a worse Cole album to me, Cole is better at putting together a song/hooks.

Soul food 2 is one of the most cathartic moments ever. I didn't look at the track list before listening and got blasted by nostalgia

Am I the only one who doesn't like that he not only re-used the beat, but subsequently just switched a couple words out in each line too? I get it's a sequel to the first Soul Food, which was great, but idk...

I think Fantano said it the best when he said Logic comes off as more of a fan than his own artist and that's been the case throughout his career.

It bothers me a bit when people call him lyrical because 99% of the stuff I hear from him is surface level pseudo-intellectual bullshit.

It's a great flex that he didn't have the budget to clear the sample in 2014 and now he does.
