im trying to illustrate the difference between correlation and causation

the fact of the matter is that unfortunately black men commit most of the crimes in the US (whether it's due to socio-economic factors, education, whatever)

if you have bad individuals within the police force, there is a much higher chance that they will run into black men. the chance of them running into black men, and situations like this taking place are higher than with any other race

i guess the point is this guy was tapped in the head, and maybe he killed him for any number of reasons. maybe he didnt like the shoes george had on, or didnt like the fact he was bald. but people jump to this whole race thing

the solution isnt to label the whole US police force as racist

the solution is to raise black people up so that they dont run into these kinds of evil people

call me a racist or misinformed or whatever, i just think people have this all backwards

are you dumb? you literally said it, correlation and causation

there are demonstrable societal factors that contribute to crime in black America. Tax redistribute to weather states and counties leaving the social services and education of poorer areas trailing.

Therefore we have correlation and causation

Police who treat a class of people who come from that background worse because they think they're more liekly to commit a crime is simply stereotyping, which easy to say has no part in the legal system.

Police not being able to let go of prejudice is a huge issue, how are you going to raise black people to not run into people who are looking for them and already have a preconceived notion of how they will behave.

Its not black people loot so police shoot them its police have preconceived notions of black people that do not take into account the institutional f***ing they receive and this is perpetuated across police culture because if your boss and all your colleagues are racist you probably pick up on some things since these to an extent are your role models

oh but sure ignore this because i wrote a paragraph and people wont read longer than a meme

Sure, but the statistics themselves don't tell you the entire picture which is why just stating a statistic doesn't actually represent the idea you're trying to put forth.

We talking about people arresting people, there will absolutely be biases and mistakes or errors that happen every side of each arrest or even just stopping someone not even an arrest.
Plus as we can plainly see all of the excessive force being used on many, many different protests. And it's not like they're only using excessive force on just black protesters.

Not to mention anywhere you get a statistic for who commits the most crimes is based off of convictions which is a further systemic issue, when it's been known that black people are treated much differently by the us criminal justice system.

The best solution would be to instead hold officers much more accountable for their actions. Including but not limited to no longer granting all officers qualified immunity.

You are a f***ing idiot. If you really think black people are questioned and arrested more by police because they’re committing more crimes and not because police specifically target black people and come down with a harder fist then you need to get tf off KTT for a while and do some reading and self reflecting.

Again, you are a f***ing idiot, but I hope you’re not so ignorant that you can’t observe this moment in history and learn from it. You might also want to do some un-learning because it’s clear you’ve been fed some lies.

Bro snapped. Much respect for being brave enough to specifically call out racism in his own community and not hold back at all. It’s not enough to be not racist. You have to be anti-racist.

Hasan has always called out antiblackness especially in the Asian community so I'm not surprised. This is a great video.

LA just took $150 million out of the lapd budget and is investing in black communities

    Stuff like that

I wish they would be more specific when these corporations say “we’re going to donate/invest $$$$$$$$$ in black ____”.
It would be nice to see exactly where every dollar of the donations and such generated by the protests go.

Because when in my eyes it looks they’re full of s*** and probably just saying it to look good.

I’m not American but this is also about creating wide systematic reforms

George wasn’t the first black man murdered as a result of police brutality and he certainly won’t be the last sadly

That makes sense. I hope they get some kind of nationwide reform enacted.

The biggest reform would be for police to be held 100% accountable for the actions and that corrective actions or punishments to be publicized.

CNN is left-leaning, but that doesn’t mean their reporting isn’t good. I’ve been really impressed by their coverage during these protests. They have some of the best live moments, interviews, and overall content out there right now. Call it bias, they’ve made more of an effort to put more black voices on-air than the other networks to show the full spectrum of the BLM movement.

Read from multiple sites and always check the linked sources.

I prefer BBC World News but they seem slightly biased in recent years.
