Aight had a few more listens…

This album is unfortunately pretty bad. It’s a few dope tracks but the rest is mid to just ridiculous. Guarantee this nigga got so many other, much better unreleased tracks he could have put on here but instead we get this mess of a track list. I read something on Twitter that if this was called IANAHB3 it wouldn’t get hated as much and tbh it’s pry true, I also wouldn’t be so disappointed. THIS THA CARTER NIGGA

I think most of the hate is justified bc we all know Wayne is better than this, but also I think some of it is just part of trolling and/or having their minds made up before even listening.

Point has been made before but a lot of this album would benefit A LOT from better production bc Weezy still be flowing a lot on most of this s***, even with some goofy ass punchlines. That doesn’t surprise me with Wayne in 2025.
All in all, Wayne haters def getting their jokes off and even us realistic Wayne stans/fans can appreciate some of the jokes.

Wayne himself isn’t really the problem, aside from getting outrapped by Big Sean and the occasional dumbass line here and here.

His voice actually sounds really good on a majority of it, probably the best it’s sounded in years.

The problem is the songwriting, song structure and production is complete garbage on the majority of it. You got a couple tracks on here that aren’t bad like Welcome To Tha Carter, Hip-Hop, Banned from NO and Bein Myself. But it’s completely overshadowed by the basura that’s scattered throughout.

It sucks to s*** on him like this because he’s genuinely one of the greatest to ever do it, but it needs to be said. He shouldn’t be coddled to the point he can drop a horrendous interpolation of Island In The Sun

There’s a weird allegiance when it comes to Wayne.

It’s like you’re not allowed to say anything critical about him without being reminded that he’s a legend.

It’s because of how over the top white people went with disrespecting him in the early 2010s

Bro - Wayne has gotten progressively worse since 2010 - 12.

I don’t care about what “white people” are saying about him. I’m judging him solely off of the music

I’m just giving you the reason why Wayne gets so coddled by the music community. It’s an overcorrection

And although I agree that he started to decline with Rebirth compared to his run from 2004-2009, the type of hate he was getting wasn’t from a place of constructive criticism, but at best, ignorant hive mentality and at worst, flat out racism.

I like his delivery on it a lot too. Gave me some Dr. Carter energy.

He can still rap and he shows that throughout the album, but that's one of the only songs where the beat lives up to his performance.

Let It All Work Out clears this entire album alone

Let it all work out is pretty great! A lot of the rest of that album has not held up well to me.

Let it all work probably would be some of my favourite lyrics on C6 if it was on there, but the voice and delivery I'm not as into. I actually like songs with different structures, and having the long chorus (a chorus I find kinda boring) and the same flow/delivery each verse makes the song drag a bit to me. I can see how the repetition works with the song and the story though, and I do like the flow, so not saying I'm mad at it. It's a great song, 8.5/10, but I've got probably at least 150 Wayne songs I like more

That soul sample is the worst part of the sing. Wayne single handedly carried that jawn cause the beat for sure didn't

I could agree that his voice sounds better on C6, but that’s it. Everything else, is vastly inferior. It’s one of his worst albums ever to me. If it was called IANAHB3, I might be a little more lenient with the… “experimenting” but this is a Carter album and goddamn did it perform below expectation on most fronts.

Yeah, because people take the criticism extremely overboard.

We have niggas saying he’s trash outside of mixtapes, he doesn’t have a classic album outside of C2, he was always overrated, etc., if the criticism was more level headed and not obviously driven by hate, people wouldn’t feel the need to remind you that he’s a legend at all.

I see you have other comments talking about "Wayne himself isn't really the problem", so I'm wondering do you think the rapping is inferior? Vastly inferior?

What are you looking for in terms of songwriting and song structure? To me Loki's Theme is a song with a super cool structure, and most of the other songs have pretty typical song structures, doesn't seem so different from any other album. Songwriting I dunno maybe you're onto something, at least compared to C3 and earlier, and of course the many leaks that have come out both in that era and more recently.

I get how someone might not like the sound of Island Holiday but as a Wayne stan that song is super fun. If I Played Guitar is a great song, as is Loki's Theme, which has a super interesting song structure, but again I understand, the guitar is scary, it invokes 2011 PTSD.

My least favourite Wayne albums are easily C4 and the IANAHB albums. C4 feels completely hollow to me never been able to quite explain it. IANAHB albums I haven't listened to in a long time it's possible I'd like them more today.
