People are trying to start a hate train before C6 it's not gonna work.

That's still not enough for that person to say "Wayne isn't a good album artist compared to other GOATs like Biggie"

If 50 had died after Massacre he'd be a GOAT. (Still got Biggie in my top 5 tho)

yeah don’t disagree with you about this, was fixated on the biggie thing

Wayne is sorta like Jadakiss.....God level rapping and punchlines but with a generally aimless album run and a stronger mixtape catalog.

The Carter Trilogy and C5 are arguably Wayne's strongest albums but, overall, his mixtapes are where he shines the brightest.

Wayne is one of those rappers where you have to really f*** with rapping in itself to understand his GOAT status.

He's not a Kendrick/Tyler/Ye/Outkast type rapper who has avant-garde type of acclaimed albums that appeal to critics, non-rap fans, and hipsters.

I think he had a more crossover than you think. He was absolutely everywhere for several years and definitely a ton of non hip hop heads had Wayne in regular rotation.

So, he’s got the tapes and features, and everything through C3 is varying levels of good to classic

We talking about albums, original creations.

The fact that people can’t defend the albums and immediately jump to mixtapes to defend Wayne is the biggest tell that this take isn’t too off the mark.

Mixtapes are original creations lol just because half of them are him sliding harder on other people’s beats doesn’t change that

  • Apr 27, 2025

    Why is bro yelling

  • Let’s also just forget about his feature run where every nigga in the industry wanted him on their single

The jail time really made people devalue what he already did before he went in because the output after was so much worse. Usually there’s more of a gradual decline. But he’s had some good projects since, he’s really not that different than a lot of other rappers who overtook the world for awhile

I agree it's an argument focused on albums, and lots of genres don't even care about alnums. But the thread isn't taking away from his skills as a rapper, it's purposely and clearly about albums, so I don't really see your point

I’m going off of the title saying that his album discography being shaky=him being “the most overrated goat” which seems to take away from him some

I mean he’s been dropping manure since he got released from jail in 2011.

His 04-10 run is hard for any rapper to touch

  • Apr 27, 2025

Are we already at the point where younger generations try to downplay Wayne and make it seem like he was never good?

  • Apr 27, 2025
    Gosh

It does go from classic to ass very quickly

I think that “I don’t listen to anyone but me” s*** kinda keeps you stagnant in the long run

Ngl tried listening to IANAHB2 the other day to see how it holds up, outside the hits it doesn't

wayne is so much bigger than just being a great rapper. like i was critical of wayne during the rebirth stuff but even looking back making an album like that, songs like lollipop and let it rock, having features so crazy people thought it was his song. his GOATness goes beyond being all time at dropping bars

Its time for people to stop acting like mixtapes are a lower art form than albums

Plenty mixtapes better than albums. And dont talk about the "other peoples beat" s***

First and all, if a nigga raps great over them who cares this is HIP HOP. Also plenty original beats on them like tell me why Kush & OJ has to be deemed inferior because it was released as a mixtape

sidenote Kush and OJ is the greatest mixtape of all time i've been playing it lately in the car with this good weather

  • Apr 27, 2025

One of the worst is a bad take.. but Wayne does have more Valleys than peak imo. Some undeniable classics and than some albums where his fans might overrate a bit.

But I mean this is hip hop and at this point in the culture you gotta include his other projects to really get a full scope of Wayne’s discography.

  • Apr 27, 2025

I do think he doesn’t have much of an argument for actual GOAT but hes easily top 10 id argue him for like the 5-7 spot

There are a couple GOATs on his level of praise i think he definitely better than

I kinda feel this but Wayne still has 3 albums I genuinely love despite not being that strong at albums

It kinda hurts Jada never made an album that I was super in love with bc he’d easily be in my top 10 if his albums matched his talent

  • Wayne has more sons that Elon, Nick Cannon, and Calvin Murphy combined

After teasing the feature list, he can honestly keep it at this point

That was not the feature list. It was another lie people were trying to spread.

The names mentioned were just some of the features that the interviewer heard. The album was not even done when the interview took place.

Not really tbh. I have yet to see someone who just like waynes r&b music or the few pop songs he makes.
