I thought it was good, it's been on my list for a long time so I finally stopped putting it off. I thought the film did a really good job of making you feel what the main character was going through, whole movie made me feel uneasy but it seems like that was the point.
Watched Thief after picking it up in the Criterion sale off of Coogler’s recommendation and my love of Heat. Michael Mann is insane. How do you do this s*** in your feature debut.

Watch Michael Mann’s entire filmog, so many bangers. You can skip The Keep though

Just watched this with friends. Very surprising movie and plot. Even knowing somewhat what the story was about I was still intrigued and was captivated by it. Every act of the movie had its own feeling and the characters felt nuanced and human. Mikey Madison is great as Ani (also really f***ing hot) and it's interesting to try to decipher how much of her behavior and feelings are honest and not her putting on a character. She's very strong willed but you get to see small cracks of vulnerability as the story continues.
Thought the drama was really interesting and chaotic and it was very funny once the story shifted direction. The supporting characters are really strong and they have a great dynamic and banter between them. This is a movie that is entertaining but also requires thought about themes and character relationships. Very very recommended.

Watched in theaters it's definitely a breath of fresh air from the DCEU which I certainly didn't care for. I'm not entirely a fan of James Gunn's style (like the close ups and weird monsters lol) but it's definitely different than Marvel. A lot more over the top and colorful while most Marvel movies feel self serious. There are a lot of cool character moments in the film especially surrounding Superman himself. Lois Lane, Mr. Terrific, Lex Luthor are all very solid characters with a lot to do.
I do think the movie was a bit messy as it was trying to set up a world, start from "the middle", which I thought was a cool idea but it just meant some elements and characters didn't get fully explored to a satisfying way. I think it's mostly about Superman's personality and goals and his existential crisis. It's all done in an entertaining, imaginative way with a bunch of cool sci fi stuff.
