After being back and forth on this album since it came out, mannnn I’m back to loving it. Sure I still think that some songs are clearly better than others but the album is a f***ing smash. LOVE the subject matter. Considering I’m in the place right now where above all things I want to better myself I absolutely adore the message behind so many of these songs. I think being at peace with yourself and having a healthy mindset is the most important thing for any human being, period, so I love the fact that that’s the direction he went with this album. And I don’t think he did it in too much of a preachy way either most of the songs are bumps, very catchy, memorable tracks. My main problem is that I wish the production was more unique or intricate on some tracks but f*** it. Fantastic album regardless

Edit: also sidenote, that rich spirit video is PERFECT. Perhaps my favorite Kendrick video next to ELEMENT. He portrayed the balance between wanting to work on yourself while simultaneously craving that outside communication brilliantly. Absolutely love it.

Hope he’s inspired. I feel like this album was his therapy and im very intrigued to see the direction he goes next
