May 17, 2022Ā·1 replyIs it just me or are Family Ties and N95 pulled from the same sample? Like they sent out that sample and got back multiple versions and recorded both in the same studio sessions. Kendrick's verses even seems to relate to his verse in Family Ties (almost like he is answering himself across the tracks) and Keem is ever-present in N95 as well.
Perhaps this was already covered in the 4,000 pages I didn't read.

S80Before I get flamed for TPAB, I think it's his most artistic (and obviously a classic) I just feel like it's so heavy I don't actually revisit it much. MMTBS I just connect with the vulnerability and message so much and have found it insanely replayable so far. GKMC I just think was so groundbreaking and is a crazy mix of message/story-telling and accessible listening experience that it'll always be my favorite

NoirI get that. Having strong opinions and sticking to your guns is fine. If we didn't have that, the site would be boring. I see it more like...I and most people come here as a shelter from their s***ty lives so I keep it on a lighthearted tip.
Straight up I need KTT to be entertaining lol I literally separated from my wife this week, my life is in flux rn but I don't need to put y'all through that being a d*** to everyone.
I'm happy that there's a new Kendrick album and it's good and so I'll focus on talking about that, sharing gifs and being positive.

WESLEYS THEORYIāve made peace with the idea that Mr. Morale might be his curtain call but I donāt want him to ever retire. Heās one of the few artists i feel like that could make albums for years to come that dabble in different sub genres.
Devils advocate. He made MM&TBS to get a lot of s*** off his chest and fulfill his TDE contract. So he put out earnest, heartfelt songs here knowing the commercial viability wasn't a concern on this final album.
Everything else from here on is on pgLANG where he reaps nearly all the sales going forward. So hits, commercial sales, album bundles and features all happen after this album promo is over.

romeafter days of listening over n over i think i understand the stepper motif: kendrick is taking big steps to better himself
this whole album is a therapy session with kenny realizing a lot about himself and figuring out how he can forgive himself and let things go. he's taking the steps that people take in therapy, just like many of us who deal with mental health deterioration and have to figure ourselves out in therapy. we are the worldwide steppers. and he's the big stepperThis makes sense to me. Also could read the "steppers" as him "stepping out" on his girl and family and the juxtaposition against him seeing himself as some morale guiding force in rap.

But Iām not denying that the album may or may not have an extensive LMFAO influence, with a running theme throughout the album equating āParty Rockā to Crack, using 2010ās party culture as the backdrop for a story line about self destruction - with a killer trip-hop spin on Sorry For Party Rocking on a track titled Still Sorry
