I think it’d help if more people understood that Kendrick generally isn’t trying to educate on this album. It’s more about his emotions personified and given entire voices/character arcs, his personal growth unfiltered, and redemption. It’s ugly and messy and gives no answers but it’s not supposed to.

The album is extremely confusing and weird but not in a ā€œhe missed the markā€ way. It’s a raw, honest take on the world from the a bunch of different perspectives.

Niggas are forgetting he grew up in f***ing COMPTON. If he’s giving voice to all of the complex emotions he’s felt growing up and experiencing life, he has to play a young compton kid, a drunk womanizer, a flashy rapper, and several other things. Baring all your most problematic, flawed traits like that is going to be unsettling no matter what and I’m glad he didn’t hold back.

the thing that many progressive ppl that are very online and active in 'discourse' is that they forget it's not that cut and dry in dialogue with people outside of their projected persona online

people think they have figured themselves out but they really haven't, their internal pains and struggles which take on dirty forms but can't be expressed outwardly except in the confines of a therapist's office

they forget they live as much on a complex line as their 'uneducated' counterparts

the one thing that is truly in common with both the internet leftist and reactionary rightist is that they have the same inflated ego and moral superiority complex, and i may be indicting some of my own internal struggles here, but it is important to be aware of your own problems
