I just wanted some money trees/bitch donāt kill my vibes songs and feel good music for the summer but this album isnāt delivering any song like that. I get the artsy aspects and all the important topics he speaking on but itās just not for me. These polarizing discussions be everywhere nowadays ion need them to be so present in the music aswell idk. Not for me.
This is why GKMC is his best project and always will be imo, he balanced deep and meaningful storytelling with enjoyable music in the perfect way.

This album strangely feels lonely and desolate,even with the features. The mixing/mastering gives off a vibe thatās rarely used in mainstream music

WigglerI think itād help if more people understood that Kendrick generally isnāt trying to educate on this album. Itās more about his emotions personified and given entire voices/character arcs, his personal growth unfiltered, and redemption. Itās ugly and messy and gives no answers but itās not supposed to.
The album is extremely confusing and weird but not in a āhe missed the markā way. Itās a raw, honest take on the world from the a bunch of different perspectives.
Niggas are forgetting he grew up in f***ing COMPTON. If heās giving voice to all of the complex emotions heās felt growing up and experiencing life, he has to play a young compton kid, a drunk womanizer, a flashy rapper, and several other things. Baring all your most problematic, flawed traits like that is going to be unsettling no matter what and Iām glad he didnāt hold back.
