I thought this was gonna be "TPAB" level s*** after "Heat Pt. 5", but it's still a great body of work nonetheless.

the whole concept of the song is "the basis of intentions" though. words can be loaded but not everything is malicious that's the point.

i'm queer and don't identify as my birth gender either. i felt exalted by the raw honesty in which kendrick explained his growth and how he experienced and viewed bigotry during his childhood.

the truth isn't pretty, but it's the truth. and it certainly isn't malicious. it's the first step in recognising where to fix said faults.

Lots of people understand this deep down there’s just a lot of people pretending out of fear, or don’t have the emotional intelligence to understand the nuance.

    The deadnaming.
    Misgendering.
    Saying slurs that aren't his.

It is crazy how y'all are defending this on the basis of intentions tho.

    Genuinely crazy.

    U'r right imo
this auntie diaries song is in the same tier as that accidental racist song (by ll cool j and some white man)

intent was cute and Im sure the artist believes they're doing good but they handled it poorly, to the point of offending the people/issue they tried to adress

Album was easily a 10 and left me feeling inspired, courageous, and ready to take action against black trauma.

We are still feeling the psychological effects of slavery and I love how Kendrick mentioned this because society overlooks it.

  • Drizye

You can hate the sin and not the sinner. Kendrick would never, because contrary to his fans’ belief, Kendrick isn’t nuanced and his positions are all hard left - hence the awards and high critical acclaim from all the same leftie organisations.

Just finished. Album felt boring compared to his other ones but that doesn’t always mean bad. Definitely some highs on there. Gonna revisit a few songs. Feel like this is gonna be a grower.
