Parasite
9/10 after first view
I can’t stop thinking about it since I watched it, I think it will be very influential
The Lady Vanishes (1938) has to be one of the most unintentionally (but also intentionally! in some measures) surreal films I’ve seen, not because of the aesthetic but just because I’m confused how something so stupid yet still oddly sorta good exists in this shape. The narrative structure is so unnecessarily clunky and weird while also mostly working. I feel like Hitchcock had to of been smoking crack for this one
Also watched spirited away and found that far more moving...days later I’m still thinking on it
You should check out Your Name if you haven’t already
the thing 1982
it's soo comfy idk i like the remote snowy setting
that’s one word for it!

one of my absolute favorite hitchcocks + charters & caldicott
i didn't even know they were reoccuring characters in other films till I saw night train to munich

The film was disorientating because at first I thought they were the main characters and I couldn’t understand the importance of their obsession w cricket, but then the film switches to the actual main characters who I didn’t think were the main characters, but then charters/caldicott come back in but also out. The film had a very unique but confusing rhythm to it. I didn’t know they were recurring characters either, that’s interesting
that whole beginning portion w charters/caldicott repeatedly having that foreign lady enter their room to change is such an odd way to fill out the first portion of the film

lols yeah you're right, mayb the paranoia/horror/alien aspect aint so comfy. but when theyre playing the arcade with stevie wonder playing in the background.. idk its comfy

I really like a good bit of the films I watch
Plus half the time im watching stuff made by directors that i already love haha
But 3/5 is like the bottom limit of my scale for a film to still be solid/above average. Lower scores than that are typically reserved for stuff I don't care for much at all
hurting my feelings?
i respect his opinion as the film being solid
