Holy Motors 8 weird, cool, sorta unsatisfying but also totally original. A little like Birdman maybe

Ida 8.5 absolutely moving cinematography, some of the best I’ve seen. Fit w a strong cultural profile of post-Nazi occupied Poland. Let down by a cliche final plot arc

Slither 7.5 surprisingly good - decent cinematography, funny but dumb one liners, quality body horror

I think it's a bit too predictable of a story but it's still a beautiful drama with the music tying all the events and emotions together. This version of If I Needed You is the best ever made.

Really enjoyed this movie. I enjoyed how unusual it is on the movie landscape. It puts nihilism, cynicism, fatalism and depression under one roof and it conveys a beautiful hidden message of how much more resilient people with depression are compared to the average "happy" Joe like me who just can't understand until tables turn. Von Trier created that scenario and it's just something so different from most mainstream and indie movies out there. There are just so much in symbolism, metaphors and parables I could write paragraphs about but that would spoil it. I'm loving this a lot. Definitely not for people who need a traditional Hollywood plot but I think if you're still interested 30 min in and you read between the lines, the emotions and what is actually going on, those 2 hours will fly by real fast.
