Just watched Memento; it’s an absolute trip down memory lane. I’ll definitely have to rewatch this.
Knives Out
6.5/10
Couldn’t stand Daniels accent at the start but it turned out to be an alright watch. I was eager to see the mystery get solved.
Night Train (Polish)
10/10
If you like Strangers on a Train you'll like this as well, great storytelling here

hard
Mini rant might a make thread of this later but the past 5 yrs have been largely disappointing for film
Like other than the generic big names like villeneuve it’s like there’s barely any unique ass solid films
Maybe it’s just nostalgia as i was 13-16 when i became a cinephile but that early 2010s period of films were magical
Like what’s the “Frank” or the “Her” of the past few years? I probably watched american hustle every month around the time it came out. Wtf is david russel even making nowadays. Moonrise kingdom by wes
Idk the scene just seems less magical. Like wtf has even been winning movie oty lately greenbook? Parasite was good but overhyped
Speaking of place beyond the pines another quintessential early 2010s film. The classical music score and long drawing takes, everyone was tryna copy malick cus tree of life came out lol. Films like take shelter, Her etc can go on there was a very distinct style that makes me feel good when I revist them
Maybe its just nostalgia
It doesn't sound like you're nostalgic tbh, it just sounds like your scope for discovering newer films is way too narrow.

Just finished Kate Chastain’s AVA.
It is an entertaining movie but it’s such a Killing Eve ripoff. Even the names are similar

The accent was horrible. I honestly dont understand why it was necessary.
They probably just didn’t want him to have a British accent because the movie is an Agatha Christie ripoff
Hopefully he wont have an accent in the next movie or it will be more tolerable. It was a huge distraction.
Movie a 4/10 imo

a british accent would have instantly turned it into a Bond film that's why
I could definitely take a point off my rating, I was being generous...

“ Daniel Craig didn’t have a Swedish accent in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo because it would “get in the way” he says.”
I need this energy back
the handmaiden - park chanwook

rewatched this masterpiece and it just gets better and better with each viewing
10/10 even better than oldboy
The King of Comedy - 4.5/5

Todd Phillips really copied the s*** out of this movie
Just watched The Prestige (closely); the obsession-fueled rivalry between the two main characters was wild.
