MaartinsMini rant might a make thread of this later but the past 5 yrs have been largely disappointing for film
Like other than the generic big names like villeneuve it’s like there’s barely any unique ass solid films
Maybe it’s just nostalgia as i was 13-16 when i became a cinephile but that early 2010s period of films were magical

Speaking of place beyond the pines another quintessential early 2010s film. The classical music score and long drawing takes, everyone was tryna copy malick cus tree of life came out lol. Films like take shelter, Her etc can go on there was a very distinct style that makes me feel good when I revist them

The accent was horrible. I honestly dont understand why it was necessary.
They probably just didn’t want him to have a British accent because the movie is an Agatha Christie ripoff
Hopefully he wont have an accent in the next movie or it will be more tolerable. It was a huge distraction.
