  • Sep 5, 2020

    My last two

    The New Mutants

4/10, bad for a superhero movie, also bad for a horror movie. What a mess.

    Mulan

7/10, Not as good as Aladdin or The Lion King, but I enjoyed it.

Incredibly dreamy and intoxicating film with pure raw emotion and intent behind every shot. 7 hours long with some shots lasting up to 10 minutes. An outright gorgeous project shot on beautiful monochromatic film. However, I would've liked to see a more fleshed out plot, especially given the runtime.

Crazy crazy movie. Scenes that are usually meant for novels. I'll give volume 1 a 7.5/10 and Vol 2 a 6.5

Tried to watch Mary, Queen of Scots, but I couldn't. I was so bored.

It sucks, cause I love Margot, and Saoirse is cool too.

it was just plain boring to me. some movies feel like a chore when watching and this was one of them.

only thing I was happy about by watching it was that I supported my local arthouse theatre with money to keep their business alive, since they got to premiere it first in sweden on the 22nd.

  • Clue. Really didn’t like it.

It was boring to me bc the characters felt lifeless, mostly because they couldn’t fit into the scope of the story Nolan attempted imo. for example, that mother-son sideplot felt too shoed-in to accomplish the goal of added emotional resonance, which made most of her scenes feel like a waste. One positive- I did really like JDW’s hot sauce line tho, that was funny

And the second half of the movie didn’t have the poetic quality/rhythm to it that I feel Nolan was intending- seeing things happen in reverse. It felt like Nolan found a way to basically make his set pieces into the plot exposition (because we’re getting the see every event from a more revelatory angle) for that second half, which might be a pro for some, but it didn’t work for me
