a happy/clean ending wouldnt have suited it

those shades of irreversible fate and karma descending are pretty endlessly compelling

You mistake me saying i don't like the ending for me wanting a clean/happy ending

I just felt like it was very lackluster. I prefer dark endings over happy endings

Didn't help that the 2nd half of the film already felt less flawless than the 1st. Although i do admire some small things like building up the fact that he cares about having clean boots, and in the end him checking his boots without us seeing a on screen kill

have you dove into the 70s new wave?

not really, what should I look out for?

I've seen a couple Fassbinder so far (Ali and Fox) which I thoroughly enjoyed, currently watching the "Eight Hours Don’t Make a Day" series

lol fam he famously uses the same actors in like every film... literally the same mom, dad and son like 5 times. dont think he even changed the names sometimes. films all still very distinct and amazing.

some more tsai recommendations woulda been better tbh

eight hours is too f***ing wholesome. you can just run a random episode on a s***ty day and everything feels like it'll be alright

why are you even comparing booksmart and good boys to this tho

It makes sense to compare good boys to booksmart since theyre both just coming of age comedies about ppl tryna get to a party/Superbad type beats

this s*** just a romantic comedy tho

I'm not a huge miyazaki fan. A lot of the films are a little too kiddy for my taste, but this film genuinely warmed my cold decaying heart
