This was actually an amazing and beautiful movie, Cate and Rooney were incredible, their acting was top notch, the chemistry between them, the little details in some scenes, loved it

One of my favorites. Can’t believe it was shut out of all the major awards. It was unfortunately of those films that received high praise on its initial release, then harsh criticism in response to that praise.

man, i was thinking a couple of days ago.

The films were so much better when the story was simpler.

Yeah, a lot of things came together (in parts due to luck) that made them good.

But the fact that it was at its core a fairly simple story made it good. Sure the whole family thing is in the OG Trilogy, but in general it was so much simpler. The more they felt like they needed to expand the s***ter and contrived it became.

OG was neon-samurai sword and hints of the Jedi powers with high stakes and the family connection. Now everybody is part of the family plot, the powers are virtually endless with floating, resurrection, etc. and the stakes are turned up so high that they became boring.

I'm not even a big Star Wars fan and that's how much these s***ty additions have me thinking about this s***. That's how bad they were.

The movies were good when they were actual films inspired by old school space operas made independent of fan opinion. Now every star wars movie has to be made essentially as fan fiction than an actual story

feels like they got caught up in how "great" their universe. is.

Like you said the inspiration is so obvious. From Kuroswa, to WW2/history, etc. is so obvious. That may be less original but it also grounded that s***. Now they just keep adding things to "flesh things out" but it just means the universe gets goofier an goofier.

    time to hunt
    5/10

easily one of the dumbest movies I’ve seen all year. main characters who dumb as bricks and lack common sense running away from a killer who is highly trained but also walks incredibly f***ing slow

main characters yelling out each other’s names when they know the killer is in the empty house w them type beat

the son from parasite is a main actor in this too.. hate to see it smh
