sure is boring as F***!" Then I read some people saying, oh but THAT'S the POINT

Haha
Edward Yang — Mahjong
best movie from 96? There's only Crash to compete with it tbh. (still to see Trainspotting)
I can't believe he got Virginie to star in this, perfect person to play the stubborn cutie in a hopeless romance. The accents thick though
<3 Most of Yang I seen has been more meditative and less angry than this for sure.
Need some sort of restoration copy to fully enjoy this again.
When people said It Chapter 2 was trash, I thought y'all were exaggerating. My goodness...like what happened, lol?

The same thing that happened to the first part: an old IP got reboot that strives to be mediocre

That seems to be, while a reduction, the most common reading of the film. Am open to other interpretations

If that's really the most common interpretation of the film then that's genuinely sad tbh.
Even compared to the 60s criticism that had tunnel-vision for the film's concept of alienation (which has since been dismissed in favor of a broader collection of ideas). If "boredom is the point" is a common reading, then that puts the popular discourse surrounding the film a step below the narrowed view from over half century ago.
Little Women: Really really liked this movie and Saoirse, first time i watch her, wanted to do it for a while now because of all the praise towards her plus you can tell that she has great chemistry with Timothee by having worked with him in the past or maybe they are just a great duo. Florence Pugh was great in this too, first time watching her too, Emma was alright but her role wasnt that upfront so overall great movie. Setting was amazing too, scenery like the proposing one was beautiful.
Silence of the Lambs: Amazing movie tbh, Hopkins acting was crazy good and Jodie was really good too, didnt get left behind at all, nothing much i have to say, its a classic for a reason.
Year of the Dragon - 8.5/10 (might be higher next time I watch)
X-Men - 7/10
The Tree of Life - 10/10
The Handmaiden 10/10
If you know you know
But for real tho, that movie was really f***ing good, the tension, the twists, the amazing acting. No need to say more
