If you don't want landlords, who is going to give you housing?

Do you think this could work without changing other parts of society as well?

It does operate as Acab. Honestly thinking about it....I don't see what value a good landlord does different from a community owned apartment

typically landlords offer lower rates than community owned apartments

I don't think anyone chooses to want a landlord lol.

Have democratic ownership of the land, democracy is fairly universally held ideal, why not run the economy around the idea of democracy

Democratic ownership of land as land issued by the state ?

    A people's government

you realize a people's government would just devolve into the current system we have right now?

Most people couldnt even name a single one of the politicians in their state, much less their city, much less their county. People don't care and politicians take advantage of that.

I really wonder how you see that in practice. A people's government as supposed to take care of housing, including rights and interests for these people. Someone owns the ground, let's say for new housing the government. Who buys the property?

Let's assume the government takes care all of this and creates an independent organisation. It creates an enormous financial gap for the government. How are they going to cover that?

You said the other guy was a trol, but this really does raise a lot of questions.

nothing wrong with private property ownership and choosing to rent out said property for an extra stream of income

there are plenty of rental options for people to choose from, including income based housing that lets them afford a place based on their income

if anything, reform the laws behind “landlordship”, requiring them to provide a higher standard when supplying housing

of course that may cause rent to rise, but then that’s where the income based housing that we already have will come into play

wdym who owns the ground? the entire point is that the ground wouldn't be owned by anyone other than the people, who would thus have the say on whats to be done with it.

Are Landlords Evil? Some of them can be d***s others can be more rational.

Does the Concept need to be Abolished? No, I'd rather have a human being to discuss with about my rent then some kind of government controlled housing situation.

Is the Example in @op unfortunate? Yes, like I said before, their are some Landlords that are d***s and only care about the money. But their other Landlords who have a higher tolerant level and deal with s***ty people and not evict them.

So you just get property on a certain age or is there another factor that decides this? Still leaves a practical problem open who decides who gets which ground. But alright that's solvable.

Biggest questionmark for stays the financial gap this creates for government. Would this increase certain taxes?
