My theory is they blew their load with the action in reloaded so they didn't even bother to TRY to top it in 3. In 2 you have morpheus fighting agents and pale twins culminating with that iconic shot of him slicing the suv with a katana followed by spraying with an unique in slo mo. In 3 you get him sitting next to niobi while she drives a space ship complimenting her driving skills

In 2 you get that insane chaotic highway chase scene, in 3 you get an hour of robots vs robots with non of the main characters involved

In 2 you have neo fighting all the frenchies vampire cronies in the castle, in 3 you get neo wrestling around with agent smith in the real world

In 2 you get neo VS a million agent smith's
In 3 for the big battle...he fights one agent smith and you get some bad flying stuff thrown in and the whole fight was pretty much pointless

In 2 you have the rocking jams of rage against the machine, in 3 you have this wannabe EPIC orchestral score

And that's just a few examples without addressing the bad filmmaking such as not even showing smith take over the matrix despite that being a pretty big f***ing plot point not to mention woulda been far more entertaining than watching some generic seargant character giving a generic and cliched "IF WE DIE WE GIVE THEM HELL BEFORE WE DO!!!" speech

I grew up on Reloaded, one of the first movies I remember being super excited for. Looking back on it, I still like the world building they did within the Matrix. They introduced a lot of interesting characters and unique abilities. Neo becoming OP was fun to watch. Insane action sequences. I agree with your take here, they f***ed up by focusing so much on Zion without making Zion more interesting

Nah I prefer that opera orchestral s*** in Revolutions especially the last fight. I think the soundtrack as a whole is better in Revolutions.

The action bits are a cool spectacle but I find the dialogue much more lingering. Don't get me wrong I like the action but Smith's convo with Neo about purpose>>>the clone fight.

Smith being frustrated by the concept of choice during the final fight and Neo letting smith absorb him> the fight itself.

The Merovingian talking about causality>>> the fight that comes immediately after.

Like I said the action is great to watch but it's not what immediately keeps me coming back to the matrix
