There’s no way he’s being fired. As someone who is in aviation, very rarely do incidents like this result in a single person being at fault. This is Human Factors and a direct result of being overworked and understaffed.
He was controlling ground traffic AND air at a major airport, that is absolutely insane. Not only that, but he had to continue working for an additional 30 minutes because no one was able to relieve him of his duties.
This goes back to the FAA and the government who want to work these guys like animals.
Who could've ever seen this coming though?

holyshit ive been to that airport
I mean this is one of the busiest airports in the world lol
yeah that air traffic controller should be fired dawg lmao
Yep this is definitely the ATC dude’s fault and not our federal government making his job basically impossible to do correctly
I mean this is one of the busiest airports in the world lol
i was just surprised cause like me and a bunch of friends all went to new york together last year but all landed at diff airports
All the responses blaming the controller are surprising tbh
And obviously wrong
a mistake is a mistake dude. you think drunk drivers knowingly get in their car with the intent to kill people?
Drunk driver rights
Besides this, when’s the last time you heard about a major plane crash? Come on now…
There have been like 4 in the past year lmao?
India this year.
That UPS one
US refueling jet just fell out of the sky last week in the middle east
DC collision
several more after that.
but yes, in relation to safe flights. minimal. but I also don't blame someone for being a little nervous lately.
