i have no idea what the true cause of this was - meaning was it just a guy making a mistake or was it indicative of government cuts and understaffed undertrained workers.
terrible tragedy either way.
not having a truck driving across a runway that has a plane landing is like ATC 101
Besides this, when’s the last time you heard about a major plane crash? Come on now…

Wasn’t Boeing f***ing up a lot recently?
his direct quote was "i messed up"
Never said he didn’t make a mistake. I’m saying I don’t blame him.

A drunk driver kills your family. Do you not blame the driver?

If you’re giving a huge dog whistle by this post that you’re happy that some people died in a random accident then you’re a sick f***
The extremism/4 Chan type dudes in basements on this site has gotten absolutely ridiculous

A***ogy makes no sense

s*** there was like 3 last year
A***ogy makes no sense
ATC made a careless mistake that costed two lives. A drunk driver makes a careless mistake that resulted in casualties as well.

LGA controller who is horrendously overworked and made to manage BOTH the ground and tower comms in one of the biggest airports in the world, makes a single mistake in the course of his 10 hour shift in a very busy night, during terrible weather, and attempts to correct the mistake in the matter of seconds
Versus
A s***head who knowingly gets drunk, knowingly gets in a car, and kills a family because he can't control his vices
Does that explain why distilling it down to a simple ass a***ogy doesn't make any sense

I don’t blame the ATC at all. I blame the FAA and the fed gov for causing this situation from systemic failure after systemic failure
!!!!!!

You can safely do that job you can’t safely drink and drive
Looks like plane was still in the air when ATC gave the go ahead. Tried to rescind it back a few seconds later but planes just travel way to fast.
he prob will be fired. i feel bad for him since you know he's going to be thinking about this for the rest of his life
There’s no way he’s being fired. As someone who is in aviation, very rarely do incidents like this result in a single person being at fault. This is Human Factors and a direct result of being overworked and understaffed.
He was controlling ground traffic AND air at a major airport, that is absolutely insane. Not only that, but he had to continue working for an additional 30 minutes because no one was able to relieve him of his duties.
This goes back to the FAA and the government who want to work these guys like animals.
