Wasn't it There's A Riot?
There's a Riot Goin' On was met with a divided reaction from fans and music critics, who were not used to the album's production and lyrical content. Los Angeles Times writer Robert Hilburn expressed a mixed response towards the band's stylistic change from "soulflavored" songs such as "Everyday People" and "Hot Fun in the Summertime", stating "there is little on the album that is worth your attention".

A few of them are classics now tbh.
but s*** on them for singling out Seven Years in Tibet as Bowie's low point. Arguably my favorite song he did post Scary Monsters.

further proof that while theyve always had s*** writing, at least they had somewhat decent taste in the early to mid 00s

Aviary is universally loved. I wouldn’t call it inaccessible, it’s just lengthy. No shocker there.
No Beyoncé is really not something to be proud of. Lemonade is very ambitious and executed flawlessly. I wouldve put it in my top10. Maybe if the entire list was indie, then the snub would’ve made sense. The musicality was marvelous. Anyway, it’s not like she needs to be on yet another Best list

You were one of the last holdouts to migrate here too right?

it's less accessible than the 2 prior. Tragedy is probably her least accessible.
and I guess we'll just have to disagree on Beyonce but the people have spoken and she got 0 votes. Maybe all 27 of us could see through the crystal clean production to know that there really wasn't much ambition there (maybe ambitious for a pop star with very little musical ambitions to begin with). the genre jumping was overblown. I do like "Don't Hurt Yourself" as well as "All Night"
If Beyonce was on this list, it would be for her self-titled, not Lemonade

yeah
I think I waited about a month

Nah, I got into Tragedy almost immediately. Aviary took me almost a year because there are so many leftfield things happening and I found it difficult to relate to the emotions on the album. The length didn't help either I agree.

I think Aviary is more accessible for many people because it's more musical than Tragedy. if that makes sense. Tragedy has a lot of musique concrete sections that dont really scream accessible. I agree for me , Aviary was harder to get into but I think more people find Aviary easier to get into. Aviary has more breathing moments while Tragedy arguable only has Goddess Eyes to break from the experimentation.
Excuse me, now i have to go listen to this on repeat for half an hour

Surprised nobody has said anything about Blonde being so high on here tbh
