But "m.A.A.d City" not only has some of the most complex storytelling in rap history on it but can light up a party or show like it's nothing. It's a generational anthem that can be played in literally any setting, a classroom, a club, a concert, the car, the gym, in your bedroom, anywhere. If that's what people look for in music I totally get why'd they enjoy GKMC more

GKMC & TPAB are both within the best rap albums of all time and deciding which one is better literally just comes down to subjective preference. Not even worth to argue tbh

TPAB is a super intense and demanding listen and I respect that that wont resonate with everyone. I enjoy it because of that aspect but I get why it might be too much for some people even with the best intentions. I can't listen to it in pieces generally only because once I hear one song I gotta listen to the whole thing or I get annoyed lowkey

The drums on Swimming Pools and Money Trees legit sound like early 2010s, probably the only negative I can see about that album

yeah we're exactly the same. I was going to say this and this is why I actually like TPAB more - I always wanna hear just one song isolated and end up front to backing it

GKMC isn't a contrarian take to have because of popularity, a non linear story that's actually v straight forward in retrospect, and more digestible rap album for most people

The real contrarian take is saying S80 is better than TPAB
