There are decent non legacy rap albums, but nothing touching nwts/gkmc yet. Not even close.

Outside of rap, things aren’t terrible. The thread is asking about music and not just rap 🤷‍♂️

there are literally no rap albums touching GKMC if we really wanna zoom out and look at everything

maybe its not hiphops fault that someone so irreplaceable occured

A lot of people also generalize that just because rap might be in a weaker spot nowadays, that this means all of music is weak rn lol

The Weeknd for example dropped his best studio album in 2020, and some would even say 2022, and that's just one example of a super popular non-hip hop artist who is somewhat "newer" making great music still

    Sza been doing good too

I agree but non-rap was never that popular here even during prime KTT so you could say KTT was always out of touch with other genres

I wouldn't say "out of touch" as much as I'd just say that it's not as much of a priority for them, which is okay

But don't generalize about the state of music just because some of it might not be that good lmao

Name one rap album after 2020 that’s not from a legacy artist that is as good as the loved albums from the 2000s and the 2010s.

    Easy

But then just admit you gotta catch up. Happens to anyone who works a 9-5 lol. Humility matters

i definitely believe that consumer culture/the social media age has played a negative part in a lot of people’s lives…shit changes in rotation so much nowadays, you have hardly anytime to absorb it so you end up in a constant cycle of overwhelming FOMO every f***ing day. but, like i said before, it’s up to YOU to control it…

For me I know what I like and more importantly the qualities for what I look for in music so if I know or can get the vibe that that's not what I'm going to get out of the project, I just ignore it usually. I use RYM a bit too to keep up with new releases

I was mostly joking, I think they just need time to develop their sounds. Listened to that album and liked a few

    Producers ain’t producing no more.
You can tell when it’s a timbaland beat without a tag or anything.

Now these niggas producer tags be the highlight of the beat

Fair criticism bc the need for tags implies a certain homogeneity to the sound

Trap been spinning its wheels lately but some people out there still going hard
