Not rlly it’s mostly just American pop music in Korean, Japanese pop music is more interesting but it’s also a lot more abrasive for the most part, tho a lot of it is also just American pop music in Japanese.

Also Japan is very insular when it comes to their cultural exports where as Korea has actively pushed their music industry outside their borders, mainly because Japan’s industry is big enough to support itself where as Korea’s music industry isn’t.

I don't buy Japan being insular with their exports moreso than Korea at all. Jpop artists don't get that type of traction at all, but saying that is completely at odds with their philosophy regarding other artforms that are massive.

Some of that kpop s*** I be seeing is legitimately disturbing. Im usually pretty open with foreign music and art, too.

Imagine ur whole nation riding on one group

this is erroneous. Don't speak on things you don't know anything about.

perhaps SK's cultural export strategy's are just more effective when it comes to music? I think i talked about this before but JPop was a lot of the time region locked on Youtube back in the day except for anomalies like Utada Hikaru or whatever flew under the radar. Sony was really a*** with that s***.

Also K-pop groups have been making tours around the world for years now which starts a steamroll effect. 2NE1, BIG BANG and Epik High really been doing the rounds lol

IDK, K-Pop as a cultural export seems to just be seriously pushed as a total package worldwide, I mean you're not hearing people talk about J-Dramas and all that too. Anime yes but there's not many cross overs with music because the idols aren't being animated/voice acting

cuz they mostly dont give no credit and their ignorant stans act like they own the sound while they dont even have a say on the songs and they are theirselves are mostly uneducated about the culture too. its just disrespectful cuz all of this are just for money too.
