I think people getting too caught up from the "gameplay" that was seen on the trailer. This looked exactly like the Leviathan fight from FF15 which also looked realistic asf.

The final art style and the game was a lot different from what was shown in this trailer, it was clearly some sort of tech demo so I won't worry that much about how the game looked like in the trailer

traverse town was infliuenced by european architecture too but was more fantasy
