Welp, shelving this game for now, the main quest is bugged. I found goatskin’s location but he’s not spawning. No way to continue through the story now.
i killed jakesh in troskowitz and nobody f***ing saw me, i walked into his home and murdered him in his sleep and left
i go off to semine, get a horse, and i'm riding out with cap gnarly up to troskowitz and i'm f***ing wanted for multiple murders

yeah same thing happened to me, several game systems feel kinda broken. the crime system is one for sure.
2gb patch just dropped praying it’s a hotfix so I can continue the main story
edit: we won
Game is really becoming a slog in the end, just long quests filled with errands, boring conversations, the plot is moving at a snails pace

Just finished at 140 hours, the final mission was f***ing awesome but it was a pain to get there

Yeah I feel like I went too hard doing everything in the first map, struggling through the second map. Same s*** happens to me with the Witcher 3 lol never beaten it cuz I’m burnt out after getting to Kaer Morhen.
Also I f***ed up sneaking Hans and the Frenchman out of that one fortress and had to fight the whole place lmao oops
this is the best western rpg i have ever played outside of bg3
What does this compare to? I’m aware theres no fantasy element but is it like Skyrim? Is the combat good? Is it the type of game that is more focused on dialogue and story or more gameplay focused? Should I play the first one or skip to the second one?

It’s like a more grounded Skyrim with an emphasis on the story. The main quest story and dialogue is actually good, even the side quests the dialogue is pretty good. I skipped the first game and just watched a recap but they explain a decent amount in the intro.
Combat is aight, starts out clunky but it’s decent when you get some new moves and perks

Nice. I was thinking of trying the first game since it’s $10 rn but I didn’t know if I should just skip out and get kc2. Sounds cool though, I think I’ll try it

First game is still great especially at $10 but the second one is much more polished and recaps enough that I won’t say you need to play the first one.
Skyrim comparisons obviously make sense but I will say there is much less of a sense of adventure/wonder in the exploration because it’s a grounded setting. Exploration is still worth it but imo only when it makes sense to be exploring that area in the first place, like if a quest leads you there, rather than in Skyrim where you can pick a direction and eventually come across something interesting.
As the other guy said though, story is much more involved, better dialogue, combat is better too once you know what you’re doing (this is even more true in the first game, a lot clunkier), and the world feels really lived in and like you’re a part of it which is hard to explain but takes a bunch of mods to recreate that feeling in Skyrim.
Played the first one a bit this morning and stopped when the invasion happened. Pretty cool game, I love how open ended everything is
Beat the game, put at least 100+ hours in. Some great side quests, story was fun, thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. Easily my GOTY at present.
