I’d recommend browsing this if you want a deeper dive on some of these topics. This represents my general investment philosophy and is the best bet for the vast majority of people who are in it for the long term and don’t want to get burned gambling or putting in a ton of effort just to barely win out

Also super helpful, gonna do a deep dive on this the next few days/weeks

i don’t get what trump means when he says the US is a victim. we’re the only empire in history that’s exported debt for decades.. there’s nothing else like it. our biggest export is just debt/money, and in return we get a flood of cheap s***. yeah, we should definitely bring back production of important stuff like semiconductors, medical supplies, transportation and weapons, but we don’t need to be making temu phone cases here.

it feels like this whole “victim” narrative is just political rhetoric aimed at deindustrialized areas. in reality, it’s the opposite. the US built the global system around its own liquidity. the world runs on our money. if anything serious happens to US debt, the entire global economy collapses with it.

these people are victims of greedy multinational corporations and wall street not the Chinese. China devalues their currency to boost exports, but we created the game they’re playing. who lobbied to move all these jobs to India, Mexico, China etc? wall street and multinational corporations.

it's like playing a board game you rigged and then being mad other people are trying to use the rules (you made) to their advantage.

If you make people feel like they are a victim and you are their savior, you get loyal people willing to accept anything and do anything for you. There's cults based on this, and is the backbone to religions

Trump has been doing this since 2015 and the whole idea of make America great again boils down to "you are all victims don't you wish you weren't a victim like in the good ole days"

yeah i don't disagree and that's how fascism generally works

you take some truth "these people are victims of someone" which is true but then you just redirect them to another target like "the Chinese & Latin Americans" so they don't put the pieces together

maybe for support with weapons or products but almost no one trusts the Chinese financial system over ours lol

    they are worse

the real threat is something like Bitcoin or Gold replacing the US order

the way things use to work

Yes, and people will be willing to accept insane things if it's in the name of being saved.

9/11 did the same thing, people liked and cheered for the invasions and stripping of American rights.

Hitlers whole thing was being the savior of Germany, we all know it wasnt all "following orders" from all the people involved.

Fear is the most powerful political strategy to exist, followed by hate and schadenfreude.

yeah but that's pretty standard in a liquidity crunch. when things tighten up, everything that's not Dollars gets sold as people rush to safety. even Gold, which is probably the safest long-term asset in these conditions, dropped because of that.

i'm talking about a much longer time frame—like 10 to 30 years out. if Bitcoin ends up being used for trade instead of Gold, it would be because it's seen as a neutral, trustless system. right now, bitcoin is still viewed as a hybrid. part store of value like Gold, part high-risk tech asset. so it sells off when tech stocks do too.

this kind of shift wouldn’t happen overnight. and honestly, if countries never see Bitcoin as legitimate, Gold might just replace the Dollar. the way things use to work before the US Dollar order but if enough states do start using Bitcoin as trade collateral, that would change everything.
